Background: Though she may have been the last surviving member of House Chimera, Elaryn was never truly alone: she was joined by the countless devils' souls that she absorbed in her youth. And boy were they unhappy! Eventually, her stockpile of alchemical mixtures that silenced the spirits ran dry, and she was subject to an endless cacophony of voices plaguing her consciousness (mostly telling her to die and finally pay her half of the bargains she'd been subverting for years!). These voices only grew louder over time, and were joined by visual hallucinations after a point.

After numerous unsuccessful attempts at removing the "parasites" attached to her being, Elaryn found she was struggling to maintain control over her own body while so many other souls vied for the same. She retreated to her personal demiplane and converted it into a sort of containment facility.

With a literal army of simulacra, each with a very detailed set of instructions, Elaryn felt confident that she wouldn't lose control of herself and go on a rampage. Not again, anyway. But it was only a temporary fix: she needed to get rid of all the devils and demons she screwed over, but without losing the ability to cast Mythic Fireball.

After an excess of research, she began experimenting with partitioning her consciousness, and later her soul, and placing the pieces thereof into specialized simulacra. Initial results were promising, but she couldn't for the life of her remember why. On second thought, maybe these experiments weren't a good idea after all...

If her siblings were alive, they would surely be able to help her.....thus began the quest for Resurrection. Spoiler: the quest ended in failure, as her siblings had either moved on (through reincarnation), or were not willing to return to life, especially not via a ritual performed by kidnapped and coerced Clerics against their will!

Crushed by this outcome, Elaryn sealed her soul (and all the other souls with it) within a crystal, where she "slept" for a few hundred years.

At some point after her awakening, she figured she'd tried "literally everything else," and decided to Kill God. But not like literally, goodness no. She hired* some adventurers to do it for her.
*physically and psychologically tortured, until they hit level 20

Against all odds, the adventurers """borrowed""" the essence of a dying god, and purged the extra souls out of Elaryn's body. Yay!
Unfortunately, this did nothing to alter her atrocious personality. Boo!

Since that fateful day, she's occupied herself with:
- What is colloquially referred to as a "hostile takeover," becoming the CEO of her late "brother's" business
- Assigning leftover simulacra to various divisions of the company in an attempt to automate business ownership
- Claiming all the artifacts left behind by her venedaemon progenitor, and then stealing his name, just to rub salt in the wound

Has never taken a proper apprentice despite urgings from many sources, mostly due to her unstable mental state making her unfit to mentor, as well as Just Not Liking People Enough to want to be around them that often (with a few exceptions, none of which having any desire to learn magic from her :V). Nevertheless, she's wound up with a non-simulacrum assistant and "some manner of pale servant," both of which can act as conduits for her magic.

Personality & Appearance: Tired and short-tempered after having to deal with agitated demons living in her head for the past few hundred years.
Makes constant, uncomfortable eye contact with everyone, simultaneously.
Still has severe social anxiety which she masks by being an asshole 99% of the time.
Struggled with being extremely forgetful for a while, as a result of dividing her consciousness into numerous parts. Hey, the memory is around here somewhere, okay?! It's just....in a simulacrum...probably? But which one...

Her actual form is an amalgamation of tentacles and eyes, but she tends to polymorph herself into her tiefling body as it appeared just before her fateful transformation: dangerously underweight, with sunken eyes and a veritable crown of horns.
(Will eventually fill out a little bit, and file down the horns when she gets tired of them scraping the ceiling and hitting doorframes.)
Still wears caftans and the like, which are varying degrees of faded and/or tattered.
Can frequently be found hanging from the ceiling by her hair, or crawling around up there like something out of The Exorcist. Stops doing that (as much) after purging the extra souls from her body

Trivia: Does not actually walk anywhere, but floats about an inch off the ground just because she can.
Has a high pain tolerance, except for relatively minor pains, like paper cuts, to which she reacts overly dramatically.
