Drift Nation Origins

Born to a long line of techs working and living among the Drift Cities of the Gulf of Mexico, Mako has always had a natural knack for engineering. If you left the boy alone in a room with a gadget, you'd come back to find it disaseembled and Mako claiming he could "build it back better" - and that's exactly what he did. As a teen, he apprenticed under some of the best underwater technicians the Drift City had to offer. It wasn't long before Mako had honed his natural talents and became a noteworthy tech in his own right.

After an unfortunate workplace accident cost him both his legs in addition to a couple of his internal organs, Mako's career came to a sudden halt. Though the Drift Nations were a hardy people, they lacked access to the type of advanced medical technology that would allow Mako to make a full recovery. So, he made his way to Night City: the heart of opportunity in 2040's America. Also the place where - he hoped - he would be able to MacGyver better cybernetic replacements for himself.

Welcome to Night City

Talk about a culture shock. Used to the cramped and tightknit, yet free-spirited Drift Cities of his home, it took time for Mako to find his footing in "Red Sky City". He took up residence in an uncomfortable cube hotel near the coast, working as a self-employed repairman who mended busted tech and made (often illegal) aftermarket enhancements on existing 'ware. After several months, he managed to eek out a decent clientele to buy his secondhand "upgraded" cybernetics.

Clinical Technician

When one of his repeat customers, "Albatross", invited him onboard his burgeoning ripperdoc business, Mako was all too happy to accept. Finally, an actual workspace with access to high-grade cyberware! That's not all Mako found, however, as he and Albatross became a dynamic working pair. Mako repairs the parts, while Ross installs them - a rather profitable set-up. Plus, turns out they have pretty good chemistry, too.

• Right eye is cybernetic.
• Has two cyber legs: his right leg from the knee down and his left leg starting at the upper thigh.
• Typically wears his ID tags from the Drift Nation despite no longer living there.
• Has multiple locations on his body covered in gray synthskin - in particular, his shoulders, abdomen, and lower ribcage.

TRIVIA

• Loves diving and marine life.
• Enjoys chromatic rock and collects vinyls, though piano is slowly growing on him.
• He's known to indulge in card games around the community, local bars, and clubs.
• May or may not indulge in a bit of street art from time to time.
