Ashkit and her sister, Mosskit, were born to two highly respected warriors.Due to their heritage, and following a season of famine and lost kits, the Clan had high expectations for the pair, even before they began training. During her apprenticeship, Ashpaw excelled at fighting and training, while Mosspaw was far less productive. Soon, the Clan's hope was placed squarely on Ashpaw's shoulders.

Constantly stressed under the weight of her clan's expectations, Ashpaw reached a tipping point when she had her ear ripped when she tried to fight a fox unprepared. Though the wound itself was minor, she saw it as a sign she wasn't cut out for life as a Warrior. She would confide in her sister before leaving, and occasionally visits her at the border.

Though Ash has always been physically fit, and a more than capable fighter, her recent solitary travels have left her far more paranoid when it comes to safety. As a result, she generally avoids strangers.
