Mochi

About:
Mochi is a pet to my girl Maggie's twin sister Magdalena (I'm currently working on developing her). When Magdalena's not working in the bakery with her sister, she's training to be a 'beast master' - raises, trains, and helps maintain the many creatures of the underworld. Mags already has a sort of demon cat creature named Chomu and Mochi is her second beast. She found Mochi in the wild and took it home with her thinking it would be an easy starter beast because of it's small size and relatively harmless appearance. However, she was so, so very wrong. Generally speaking Mochi is a sweet and friendly little beast whose fire breath is great for toasting things in the bakery. But, if she manages to ingest more than about a tablespoon of sugar she becomes exceedingly hyper and destructive. In her hyper state, Mochi can move at speeds so quick that she usually cannot be caught and, if given enough sugar, cannot even be seen. During this time, she whips around like a cat at 3 in the morning and is prone to setting fires. The plus side is, these episodes are usually pretty short as they only last as long as it takes to burn through the sugar. However, Mochi's true danger is in her 'meltdown'. When she comes off of her sugar high, she finds a secluded place to hide. Her fur, which is usually quite think and fluffy, begins to 'melt' off of her body turning into a think, tar like substance that is highly explosive. If she's not found before the 'melt' ends, usually about 10-20 minutes, she will set the substance on fire and set off a pretty sizable explosion. If she is successfully found and removed from the area though, the fur tar can be sold for a nice little sum. She's pretty lethargic following the meltdown but after about an hour or so, her fur will have fully grown back and she'll be back to normal. Working in a bakery, it was quite the surprise the first time it happened but the twins have since then figured out how to deal with and keep it from happening....though Mochi still catches them off guard from time to time.
