Russet

Russet is an inkling, and the new Agent 3 of the New Squidbeak Splatoon. They aren't a particularly strong fighter, and have never had what they consider any outstanding talents, but they're trying their best all the same. Their agent title was gained by exaggerating their abilities just a little, though.

They grew up with their younger sister, Hazel, as their only close family, and have since lost contact with her over a mistake they made in the past. Now their closest friend is a smallfry named Buddy, who for the past few years has held the role of both family and emotional support fish. Due to their upbringing, they tend to worry a lot about anyone they become close to, and they fuss over Buddy a lot despite how robust the little smallfry is. They also have a tendency to be a people-pleaser, seeking out validation and wanting to be liked by others.

Russet gets a lot of assistance in their agent work from Margin, who they met shortly before gaining their agent title and just after arriving in the Splatlands. They became attached to her very fast despite her standoffish attitude and, despite all odds, manage to become close friends with her. The two of them eventually have a queerplatonic relationship, although Russet still has a lingering crush on her.

They sometimes do ink sports for extra cash; their weapon of choice for it is the Inkline Tri-Stringer, but they use the vanilla set initially.
