One day, a little angel walked up to the goddess. The little angel asked: "Mother, who are all these people I see in our beloved gardens?"

 The goddess looked upon the little angel and said: "They are the innocent that harbour our golden gardens. We must protect them, and keep them from committing sin." With that answer, the little angel walked off. Later, one of the people tried to grasp it's wings, and the little angel struck him down.

WHAT ARE ESCORPI?

Escorpi are rare scorpion-based entities that act like defense attorneys for chosen people that have committed crucial sins in their life, and now need to be punished by the judgement of a god or other divine being after their death to determine whether they will join the angels in heaven or forever be banished to suffer in hell - they use trickery to help the sinners escape their fate and otherwise in their own life. Being based on scorpions, they have alot to do with death and change. They help their clients by making the judge unable to speak the final word in trial, and lead them to escape only for the sinner to pay the price by changing themselves to a good person so they can have a chance at either returning to life or rest in peace, in the golden gardens of heaven.

Etymology

The word "Escorpi" derives from the words 'scorpion' and 'escape'. The name was given to them by firstborn; the oldest group of Escorpi and the first to be proven to exist.

Physical Features and Trait List

Escorpi are humanoid but scorpion-based. Escorpi may or may not have markings, this is up to the design creator.
Their traits can have any colors, however their facial and stinger eyes share their color, same with their horns.

Horns

Every Escorpi has horns. They are a necessity to them as they replace ears, so Escorpi hear using their horns. Their hearing is worse or better depending on the size of their horns.

They are made of  Ivory.
Their horns can be cut off. Some of the few people that are aware of their existence actually hunt them for their material.

Wings

Every Escorpi also has wings. These wings are not capable of flight however and actually the only thing that connects them to their "parent".
The size of their wings always stays true to those of their "parent".

The color may differ however.
 Some Escorpi have horns on their wings, these serve no purpose other than aesthetic reasons.

Tail

 Their Tails resemble the tails of scorpions, with the difference being that the single parts are not attached to each other. Their tail floats around behind them and is capable of any movement, however the first part is always attached to their sacrum.
 These single parts can float around the Escorpi themself but not remove themselves from them by a longer distance/ fly around freely.

 The more single parts an Escorpi's tail has the more endurance. Now this does not apply to all of them, there are Escorpi with short tails that are fantastic hunters and sportmans.
 The length and amount of single tail parts are kept in their feral forms.

Stinger

 Their stinger is the most important part of their body. It is their lifeline; if their stinger is destroyed or irreparably hurt with no hope of healing, they will cease.
 Every Escorpi's stinger has an eye located on it. These eyes look in whatever direction the Escorpi is looking to (it's creepy...)

 Their stingers hold their venom. One must be impaled by the stinger to be poisoned.
 If the eye on their stinger is closed, it means that they are capable of poisoning anyone instead of just people they loathe so much they formed an interpersonal but invisible bond with them, at will.

Feral Form

  In their feral form, Escorpi very much resemble normal scorpions. They keep their floating tail, stinger eyes, optional third eyes and horns, though. Their wings are not present in their feral form.
 Escorpi can shapeshift to their feral form at any given time for whatever reason.

Unlike actual scorpions, they are the size of chihuahuas/ small dogs in their feral form.
 They may keep certain decoration in their feral form such as flowers.

Abilities & Venom

Escorpi, even though they possess wings, are not capable of flight.
Every Escorpi has venom in their stinger. This venom is only poisonous to those Escorpi loathe - if sinners they helped escape from Judgment refuse to pay, they may be stung if enough emotions are build up as Escorpi are very greedy about their services. Escorpi with the legendary closed-eye trait may be venomous to anyone. A person needs to be stung directly for the venom to actually poison them, touching it is not dangerous.

The core of their venom is the fact that it will not 'kill' someone. The stung will forever be lost wandering between worlds with no chance to return to life or go to heaven, lost and never to be found.

Further, they can shapeshift into their feral form at will.
Their species traits cannot be seen by those that have not sinned. To innocent people, they will appear as humans, or to angels they will appear as angels as they can see their wings.

Escorpi use their feral form as a benefit to trial. They cannot be seen by a divine judge. Placing themselves on the judge's hands will have the effect of the judge being unable to continue with the trial and/or speak the final word, dismissing the trial.

Habitat

Escorpi live wherever they are comfortable and stand at no risk of being attacked, which is mostly the heavens as angels cannot actually differentiate them from themselves just by looks due to angels being pure entities.
 Escorpi also live in the human world. A good portion of them work normal day jobs, i.E as defense attorneys. Most prefer deserts alot, though.

Procreation

(NSFW) Escorpi do possess genitals and may engage in sexual activity.
However, they are not able to procreate their own species.

Instead, Escorpi come into existence when an angel or other divine being commits a crucial sin. These angels are called 'parent', and Escorpi are usually very aware of who their parent is.
 Escorpi may obtain younglings by adoption. Escorpi don't start out as adults, they will be toddlers and do actually require care.

What does their diet look like?
Escorpi are able to get their required nourishment from human foods, however they primarily nourish from actual scorpions. Some Escorpi are cannibalistic and nourish from the feral form of their own species, too.

Natural enemies?
Any divine beings as well as people that hunt them for their qualities such as the ivory on their horns or their venom. Sometimes other Escorpi as well.

Causes of Death?
Escorpi cease when their stinger is broken or irreparably hurt to the point of no hope to healing or when they are poisoned by other Escorpi. They also can't really survive without proper nourishment or in cold regions.

Magic?
Escorpi cannot learn any magical abilities in the canon lore (however you are free to make AUs)

What's their skin like, especially the marked parts?
It feels just like human skin. The markings are just like tattoos.

Lifespan?
Escorpi live as long as their parent lives. Since angels are divine and thus immortal except for some circumstances, in most cases forever or at least for up to thousands of years.

At what ratio do Escorpi age/grow, and when are they grown out?
Escorpi grow four times slower than humans.  When they reach 100 age of years, they will be 25 in human years and considered outgrown. They do not age or grow past their appearance by then, but every individual can still look younger or older depensing on the Escorpi.

Can I have just one horn for my Escorpi? 
No, however you may experiment around and have one of their horns broken or cut off, however you must still keep a part of the cut or broken horn.

Are there any trait differences or restrictions between sexes?
No except for the fact that female Escorpi are more likely to have vertical third eyes, while the males are more likely to have horizontal third eyes. This does not mean that all females have vertical eyes and males have horizontal eyes, though.

Height?
Females are usually between 4 and 7 ft tall while males are usually between 4'5 and 8 ft tall.

Names and language?
Their names are mostly similiar to latin and greek names, however there are no restrictions as far as naming goes. Escorpi speak latin fluently, most are bilingual though. They can learn any language.

What is society and relationships like within the species?
Escorpi are not the most social race as they are a bit rare so to say, since there aren't alot of angels that actually do commit themselves to crucial sins. They are very capable of committing themselves to relationships though! However they don't have a stable system of society (government or anything) within the race, every Escorpi is independent... as of now!

How exactly does the parent affect the Escorpi?
Escorpi often share specific traits with their parent, such as wing size or eye color or gender. Sometimes the exact crucial sin the parent committed also affects the personality of the Escorpi, for example if the angel burned someone alive the Escorpi's personality might be wild and fiery or have fiery colors. This isn't a must to follow!

What is the meaning of their markings actually?
I added them for aesthetic reasons, however they're also useful in differentiating Escorpi further from other of their species or real scorpions. They also keep parts of these in their feral form!

Can their markings be any colors?
Yes. The majority of the current existing Escorpi are golden/ desert colored or themed but you can choose any pattern and color for their markings and traits!!
