Runa is a passionate young woman. She is very in tune with her emotions, to the point of being called overemotional. She cares very much about her friends and family—perhaps too much. She is compassionate, looking out for others, sometimes even neglecting herself in the process. She does her best to be kind, though she may not always succeed, but she is never pointlessly cruel. She is very intuitive, following her heart more than her mind. Unfortunately, this also gets her in trouble due to her tendency to overreact and take things a bit too personally. She is very emotional, wearing her heart on her sleeve, which makes it easy for her to be manipulated. She'll make her opinions very clear, and it is extremely difficult to convince her otherwise due to her stubbornness.

Runa is full of inner turmoil. Many aspects of herself conflict with each other, as she struggles to find her way and her identity. She is extremely independent and headstrong, preferring to go her own way and make her own choices, yet she fears abandonment and craves affirmation and support from others. She is intuitive, yet her emotions often cloud her judgement. She is kind, but can be temperamental. She is brave, yet cowardly. She is hopeful and idealistic, but at the same time, is extremely pessimistic and bitter. Runa is very much unsure of what to believe in—of her identity. She is used to running away from reality, to trying to escape from destiny catching up to her.

Runa is intelligent and well educated, though not very wise, due to her sheltered upbringing. She is driven. Once she puts her mind to do something, she will see it through no matter what. She is ambitious, but not power hungry. She wishes to find the answers to her forgotten past, to regain what belongs to her family, and to prove that she isn't weak. She is well educated, but her intelligence is more cunning than anything else. She prefers strategy over brute force, and does her best to avoid trials of strength. She knows her limitations. But despite this, she still has a tendency to do reckless and foolish things due to her naivete.

Runa can be a handful, with her tendency to be melodramatic and her temper. She is still quite childish at times, and can act like a spoiled brat when she doesn't get her way. When she gets into one of her moods, she switches from being selfless to selfish, making everything about her and whining about her problems. She becomes extremely obstinate and difficult to reason with at these times, all the bitterness and anger she has been bottling up finally bubbling to the surface. Her outbursts are very loud and dramatic, but never last too long, as she is desperate to apologize and make amends for her behavior. She can be very dramatic in general, even when she's in a good mood, as her loneliness drives her to demand attention in any way possible. She likes to show off, especially in battle.

Above all else, Runa is young. She is a very loving, affectionate person to those she cares about. She is playful—impish, even. She's a bit of a hopeless romantic, though she tries to keep this a secret. Though she used to be a prankster as a child, she has grown out of it for the most part, but still can be a troublemaker at times. She is naive and inexperienced, due to her sheltered childhood. Her naivete is less connected to her idealism and how she views the world, because she is very aware that the heart is flawed, and more about her lack of experience. She may have been taught etiquette and history, but she has much to see and learn about the world. She is innocent, especially when it comes to people and relationships. She is very aware of this, and it has made her curious with a strong desire to fix her ignorance. She wants to learn as much as she can, so she can form the connections she desires. She wants to learn more about herself, and how to become a better person, even if she is unable to admit her immaturity.

Runa is a young woman of average height. Despite her age, she only appears to be in her late teens. She is built lithe and athletic, with lean muscle. She is very dexterous and agile, suited more for stealth and speed than brute force. She doesn't have a particularly impressive figure, possessing an average bust. She moves with quiet grace, rarely ever making a sound, but she is not unnoticeable. Quite the contrary; Runa carries herself with dignity, whether she notices it or not, and has a charismatic presence.

Runa possesses the classical Valkari features that only the House of Thunder has passed down generation to generation. She has silver-gold hair that cascades down to her waist in wild curls, with bangs parted to the side that curl down to her chin, framing her face. Her skin is fair, but blemished with a variety of scars she has gained over the years. Her most striking feature, however, are her bright turquoise eyes—called "lightning blue" as homage to the dragons she is descended from.

Runa has two prominent scars—one on her stomach, right above her navel, and one on her back that goes from her right shoulder arching over to her left hip. She also has a strange birthmark on the back of her right hand: a dragon in the shape of a spiral—the Dragonmark of the Creator. Later on, another strange birthmark appears on her forehead: a dragon's head with lightning bolts jolting out from it—the Dragonmark of Storms. She usually hides this by wearing the Crown of Thunder.

While Runa doesn't mind dressing up, she does prefer to stay practical. She favors tunics and trousers when it comes to daily life. Her usual outfit consists of a tunic, bustier vest, trousers, and leather boots. In the winter, she bundles up in both a fleece-lined jacket and a wool cloak for added warmth. When she does dress up, Runa goes back to wearing corsets. She typically wears blacks and greys, with turquoises and teals for added color. She'll always be found wearing a platinum pendant with a turquoise stone that sparks like lightning kept safe inside a large locket emblazoned with the same symbol as the Dragonmark of the Creator.

• Runa wears her hair up in a high ponytail, with crown braids woven up along the side. In formal occasions, she wears her hair down with crown braids woven around to the back of her head. Her bangs are always kept free, reaching down to her chin. After a certain point, she starts braiding raven feathers into her hair.
• Runa's Dragonmark of Storms is on her forehead. It sometiems is hidden by her bangs or one of her circlets.
• Runa has a few scars to keep note of when drawn in more revealing clothing: a short one above her navel, one on her back that arcs from her right shoulder to her left hip. Post-TDI, she has a scar that carves into the center of her ribcage.
• She always wears her heartstone pendant! If it's not showing, it's tucked in under her tunic.

Stats

Runa was born on the 19th of Shiningtide, 1447, in Brisingamen, Valkaros. Her parents, Valkan Stormblood, the High King of Valkaros, and Blyska, the dragon goddess of lightning, had come together out of love for their empire and for each other. She was the first member of the House of Thunder to be born on Valkari lands in millennia—and during a thunderstorm, no less. Her birth brought hope that Valkaros could someday be restored.

Early Childhood in Valkaros & the Winterlands

Runa grew up in the ruins of the fallen city of Brisingamen. The majority of the remaining Valkari lived in the palace, as the castle was the only fortress strong enough to withstand the assault of the giant beasts. Because of how few children there were, the entire clan worked together to raise them. Despite this, Blyska kept her daughter away from the other children out of concern for their safety. This turned out to be a wise decision, because Runa displayed her powerful abilities at an incredible young age. Even as an infant, when she was cry as babies do, she would overload with magic and cause accidents.

But Runa was happy and did not want for much. Both of her parents took care of her and she was very close to them. She had very few friends, but the ones she had, she adored. It was true she was a bit of a spoiled brat—being the princess and the daughter of a goddess and all—which put her at odds with many of the other children. Even as a toddler she would prove to be a troublemaker and wild child. She was a lot to handle and many of the other clan members did not want to be tasked in dealing with her. But as she was so young, Runa was completely oblivious to it all.
