AWKWARAD WITHDRAWN PESSIMISTIC

Formally followed by a death sentence, Krios is a sheepish (get it), aloof satyr who’s never had much of a sense of normalcy. Told he’d be sacrificed at an early age, Krios didn’t have many aspirations. He believed he’d be dead before he could do anything useful, so he drifted through the days slowly, living without purpose. In his mind, there was no use in finding one, or living by morals or standards. He only learned to use magic in the form of healing others to quell some form of boredom, or so he says. Krios was a walking corpse, until he met a friend who suddenly instilled hope in him, after they realized their fates were intertwined. Now, he travels alongside this friend, still without ambition, but happy to assist her in achieving her goals.
He struggles at times to truly determine what he should or shouldn't do while attempting to define his own sense of morality as he grapples with the influence of two of his closest friends, both entirely similar, but at the same time, completely unalike.

Mentions death, sacrifice, and religious trauma ᅳ Viewer discretion is advised

SUFFER DOES THE WOLF, CRAWLING TO THEE. PROMISING A BIG FIRE, ANY FIRE.
AWKWARD

'awkward, clumsy, maladroit, inept, gauche'

I was never going to act in retaliation of my fate, I figured we were bound to it, and attempting to escape our destinies was futile.

Having isolated himself intentionally at a young age, Krios never exactly established how he should properly respond to others in social situations. He chose to believe there was no point to it, nor was there a genuine purpose behind growing closer to anyone due to his approaching death. Krios is still decently unwilling to speak to those he doesn't know, and when he has to, it provides a sense of sheepishness he can't quite navigate around. While he is improving, albeit slowly, Krios would. much rather be left entirely to himself than have to spend most of his time speaking to people.

NOTES

  • Often times, Krios attempts to hide behind someone else when he's spoken to, though plays it off like he just didn't notice someone called out to him.
WITHDRAWN

'socially detached and unresponsive, isolated'

I thought that was all I could do, let them kill me for the sake of a god I couldn’t ever find myself believing in.

Krios was never one to share what he was feeling. Where he grew up, everyone knew of his fate, and so everyone bombarded him with the same sense of pity. Despising this, Krios intentionally blocked off all form of emotion and feeling from those who would only tell him there was nothing he could do; Krios was aware of his position of helplessness. He intentionally removed himself, at least from a standpoint of his feelings during discussions.

NOTES

  • It's become increasingly difficult for Krios to share how he's feeling even now, too acustomed to hiding his emotions.
PESSIMISTIC

'tending to see the worst aspect of things or believe that the worst will happen.'

I was no different to the cattle living absently until the day they have their masters turn against them. Even now, I really can’t find myself believing I’m actually alive.

Entirely used to assuming the worst of everything and everyone around him, Krios is very, very negative. He'll always have his mind drift to the worst possible outcome, even if at times, his concerns may seem rather outlandish. Krios claims, 'preparing yourself for the worst is better than hoping for the best', and it's a sentiment he lives by daily. Though, sometimes, his negativity can weigh down the attitudes of others, even if he doesn't quite mean to.

NOTES

  • Krios is often called a 'negative nancy' by Theseus, which he really, really hates.

GOLDEN AURA

The satyr can emanate a golden aura that has potent healing properties. Anyone within the aura experiences accelerated healing of wounds and ailments. Along with this, by laying his hands on a wounded person or creature, Krios can stimulate rapid regeneration of tissue, closing wounds and restoring vitality. This can tire Krios out if performed too often.

SHIMMERING LIFELINE

Tears shed by Krios have potent healing properties. When applied to wounds or ingested, these tears can accelerate recovery and grant temporary resilience to illness. Tears aren't the only thing produced by the satyr that heals though, his blood, golden as ichor, can heal others as well. If consumed an intense amount it may make the person sick, so it has to be used carefully.

HEALING HARMONICS

By playing his flute or other musical instruments, such as the lyre, Krios can create harmonies that resonate with the body's natural healing frequencies, promoting wellness and balance. As he plays to improve the physical state of those around him, the natural world begins to flourish as if it were eternal springtime as well. Plants bloom with vibrant colors, waters run clear and pure, and the air is filled with the sweet scent of rejuvenation.

  • Is usually seen in warmer colors, never without his cape if he can help it
  • His one eye is usually covered by his hair, and his pupils are rectangular. You know, like a ram.
  • He's never without his scarf, as it was a gift from his mother.
  • Even though he isn't done growing, he's still very short, standing only at a mere 4'10

TRIVIA

  • Krios is afraid of dogs, some of the ones he comes across try to herd him like a sheep, it really freaks him out. He's taken to avoiding them at all cost, even if he'll have to wait an elongated amount of time just to go where he needs to be.
  • He actually hates the color yellow, despite it being one of the main colors of his appearance, with the inside of his ears and eyes remaining a golden color. Krios preferes the color green like the gentleman he is.
  • It's speculated that his healing magic is only as honed as it is due to his suspected Godly parent. Same goes for the way nature seems to appeal and respond to him.

DREAMS

  • To find his father.
  • Managing to figure out what he wants in life.
  • Exploring the places he wouldn't have been able to see if he died.

CHAPTER 01

Born into servitude, Godly blood through his veins.

Blessed be the Daughters of Cain
Krios was born to a family of satyrs that weren’t supposed to be locked into a contract. His mother was a lowly maid, while his father “managed the steeds monks used to travel”. His family wasn’t always forced into servitude though. Krios’s mother was originally from a neighboring village, while his father was “born at the same temple he was”.
Once a care-free woman, Krios’s mother, Agna, roamed the country-side without a care in the world. She inhabited a small village full of satyrs, always happy to help whoever needed it. This village however wasn’t safe; proven by the night it was raided by bandits, who set homes ablaze and looted everything they could find. Agna barely escaped with her life, she was clever however, instead of running, the satyr took shelter within the forest, waiting until the bandits were gone to make her escape.
Agna traveled on hoof until she managed to reach a monastery within the mountains. She pleaded for mercy and help, describing her unfortunate situation. In exchange for letting her stay with them, the monks made her into a maid, bound to servitude. Agna didn’t seem to mind much though, regardless of whether she missed her home or not. She met Krios’s father, a mysterious satyr she believed to have operated within the temple’s stables. However, unbeknownst to her, his father was a god, one of healing and radiance. Krios was born, and shortly after, his father vanished seemingly into thin-air. No one seemed to know of his presence except Agna.

NOTES

  • Harbored by monks after fleeing her pillaged town, Krios's mother was now forced to serve.

CHAPTER 02

Sentenced to death, Godly herritage suspected of him.

Bound to suffering eternal through the sins of their fathers committed long before their conception
Krios’s golden and pale appearance caught the attention of the monks quickly, despite Agna’s attempts at hiding her son from their eyes. It was unlike anything they’ve seen before, his tail was unnaturally long for a satyr, and the way a golden twinkle seemed to follow him was nothing short of godly. Krios was quickly a spectacle that caused confusion to sweep across the monastery. They weren’t sure of what to do with him, at first, they wanted to cast him out, afraid of angering the god they worshiped.
However, as Krios grew older, he was seven when a decision was finally made. It was decided when the time came, Krios would be slaughtered at an altar, doomed to a fate of death to appease their god. At first, he didn’t understand. Nor did anyone have the heart to tell him of what’ll happen to him, so for the first year of this choice, Krios lived a life any other boy would, one filled with glee and adventure, though he didn’t seem to notice how odd others treated him.
Once he was eight, Krios was informed by his mother of what’d happen to him. At first, all he felt was anger and betrayal. He grew bitter. Krios believed none of what would happen to him was fair. He didn’t ask to be born of god-given heritage, he wanted to be a normal boy, with a normal life. Krios’s anger eventually faded, leaving a pessimistic shell of the boy he once was. He was negative and withdrawn, wanting nothing to do with the others around him. If spoken to, he’d simply walk away. No one could get through to the young satyr, though no one blamed him for his attitude.

NOTES

  • Krios's upbeat attitude filled with a sense of joy was soured by his fate.

CHAPTER 03

Gifted with the ability to heal, yet unwilling to use it.

Tired and angry, waiting with bated breath in a ferry that will never move again
Eventually, Krios abandoned his work entirely. The monks tried to reprimand him or imply he should’ve been doing something, anything to help the others, but the boy simply didn’t care. Why would he? He lived by a simple philosophy. If he was going to die, he wasn’t going to bother working himself to exhaustion everyday. Nothing mattered to him, he was socially inept due to how withdrawn he was, though that didn’t seem to bother him. Krios spent his time wandering aimlessly around the monastery without a care in the world. Despite his negativity, Krios showed extreme promise in magic, learning to hone healing magic easily. He seemed to best the doctors at the temple, everything came naturally to Krios. Even if he could heal others, he refused, which sparked the anger of many around him.
This anger is how he met Cerberus, a half-tiefling he’s seen flocked around by monks, paraded for her ‘holy blessing’. At first, he wanted nothing to do with her, Krios knew of her fate after he heard monks discussing her pre-planned death. Though after the girl kept bothering him, Krios snapped at her and began to yell, expressing his frustration. He didn’t understand how someone fated to such a thing like him could continue on gleefully, happy and striving through the days with ambition. Through Cerberus’s reaction, Krios learnt she was unaware of how they’d be sacrificed.
Cerberus refused to roll over and accept her upcoming death like Krios. She informed him she’d get them out together, and a plan began to form. Krios would prepare two horses; they'd go on with their days as planned, while secretly plotting their escape. Cerberus’s determination seemed to finally inspire Krios, he was genuinely excited for once in his life, hopeful he could achieve freedom and actually live his life.

NOTES

  • Krios was given a small sense of hope after seeing Cerberus, a half-tiefling who refused to accept death, unlike him.

CHAPTER 04

Escaped his slaughter, learned he could explore the world.

Each and every one come to know their god through some senseless act of violence
Once his death date arrived, the summer solstice, Krios acted the same on the outside, though he was secretly terrified. He had little hope they’d succeed, Cerberus’s ambition didn’t seem to crack through his pessimistic thinking. Regardless, he put his faith in his new-found friend. Krios said goodbye to his mother, a small heart-felt moment, then was whisked away to an altar, standing in front of a statue of the god who was preying upon his life. His eyes closed, and he was ready for the blessed ax to behead him. But that never came to be, Cerberus managed to hold out for him, pulling him from harm's way.
Krios quickly fled the area, he had tried to convince his mother to come with them, desperate to free her from the chaos, however she refused, despite how many times he begged of her. He didn’t have enough time to plead, Cerberus’s violent acts had been committed, and while she spared his mother’s life, Krios and Cerberus left the monastery on horseback, fleeing the scene of death.
Krios still remains by Cerberus’s side, loyal to the one who saved him from death. He isn’t as set on revenge as she is, but he’s willing to help heal her after battles. He’d do anything for his friend now, and struggles to find something to look forward to in life, stuck in the mentality of expecting death, but slowly, he’s attempting to forget his set death date by simple things, like picking up hobbies.

Krios and Theseus didn't quite seem to get along at first. Though despite the difference in age between them, Theseus and Krios managed to learn to understand each other even though they're quite different from one another. Theseus took a role of a mentor with Krios, guiding the young satyr, while also feeling inspired to be better and get his act together in order to set a decent example for the boy, who seemed unsure of how to truly navigate the world until Theseus started running his mouth.

TRIVIA

Krios met Cerberus purely by chance, their relationship sprouted from spite and a petty argument. Though Cerberus managed to do something no one could for a long time, give Krios hope. It was because of her that he managed to escape his death sentence and learn to live his life freely. Krios has all the respect in the world for the half-tiefling. He has different morals, nor does he appreciate her insistence on tearing down everything in her path, but he cares for her regardless, even if it may lead to his demise in the end.

TRIVIA

  • Eventually, Cerberus may lead to a path Krios will have to deter from, ending in cutting contact, but he hopes that won't happen.
