There is no fear like hearing the echoing clacks of heels against concrete while you're somewhere underground with no light to see by. There is no fear like feeling a hand on your shoulder when you were previously alone. There is no fear like being yanked down to the floor and seeing orange eyes burning in the darkness before something sharp tears open your throat before you can scream. There is no fear like failing the Queen.

Helena is an opportunist; she doesn't let things like a measly vampire bite derail her plans. Once merely the overlooked daughter of a wealthy businessman, she surpassed any and all expectations that people had of her by creating and ruling over a vast criminal empire. She maintains her façade of a cruel and ruthless queen, using tactics learned from her old ettiquete and debutante lessons to manipulate those around her. Her ambitions are infinite, and deep down she knows that she has nothing left to prove to anyone but she can't—won't—stop. She revels in the luxuries her success has brought her and shares it with her girlfriend, Samantha.

Arc One

Helena has been ambitious from the very beginning. Only a couple of years older than her younger twin brothers, she was bossy and rough with them from the day they could take it. She tricked them into doing her chores, getting her toys so she didn't have to get up, and even convincing them if they didn't eat her vegetables for her, then she'd send the monster in their closet to eat them during the night. In short, Helena was a holy terror towards her brothers. But aside from her tormenting them, she showed a strong love for mathematics in her private school and liked to read through her father's business books in the library when she reached her teenage years. She was notorious for sneaking into board meetings for the company, hidden underneath desks or behind a supportive secretary. While she was constantly rebuffed from her attempts to be directly involved with her father's company, she used his books to teach herself all about business in between her private ettiquete and debutante lessons. By the time she graduated high school as valedictorian, she was shadowing any employee that would allow her to, helping with their jobs and learning the ins and outs of the business.

At the age of eighteen, she went off to college in London. She was gone for four years, but returned with her degree in Economics and Business. Her goal had been to speak to her father about taking over his business in the future, only to return home to find that the role of CEO had been handed down to her middle brother, who had hardly graduated high school and had never shown any interest in the business whatsoever. Livid, she marched into her father's home office and demanded to know why the fuck he'd given her rightful position to Peter. After being scolded for her unladylike language, he explained to her that while, yes, she was his eldest child, he could not give the company to a woman, because one day she would have to leave it to find a husband and take care of her children. It was on that day that she learned her father's true nature, and she cursed him before storming out.

Arc Two

After the fiasco with her father, Helena packed up the last of her belongings and returned to London with over ten thousand dollars she took from her father's accounts. She used some the money to settle into an apartment just outside of the city. She immediately set out to find a job, and though it was difficult to find a business that would hire a young woman, her credentials and experience eventually came to her aid and landed her a job as a glorified secretary. Not ideal, but it was a start.

For the next two years, she split her time between her secretarial duties and her nightly studies on building a company. She had all of the technical skills, but no ideas. By the third year, she was growing frustrated with herself. She put out an ad in the newspaper looking for business partners, innovators and opportunists with creative ideas.

Arc Three

TL;DR

• Despite being brilliant and business-oriented, Helena is passed over for the opportunity to take over her father's business
• Upset, she takes some money and returns to London where she gets a menial job and starts trying to think of her own company
• She gets involved with a woman, Taylor, who offers her a partnership in her "independent business"
• Helena becomes the accountant for Taylor's drug-running business and helps it grow exponentially
• Due to the strain of work, Helena and Taylor start to bicker; Taylor threatens to leave and pin the whole operation on Helena
• After the fight, Helena hides an appointment with Taylor's number one runner and goes by herself, something she's never done before
• She tells the runner that she's the boss, but fumbles on her lie when the runner asks a question she can't answer
• The runner attacks her, and the next thing she knows, she's waking up in a luxurious apartment with wounds on her neck
