Altan

Laughs easily, talks easily and seems never run out of stories. He's excellent company with his flirtatious and open-minded demeanor. Talks softly and seems always only have eyes and ears for his conversation partner.

Smiling man is easily brushed of as a typical merchant but he is a bookworm at his core. He seeks knowledge and truth - not necessarily to speak aloud but to bend and use for his own gain. He's no hero but he knows the common good, stability and safety are the best ways for leisurely life he yearns for.

Altan is a travelling merchant and herbalist which means people don’t usually know an awful lot about him. All they have to do is ask though since Altan doesn’t mind telling them about his personal history. He does, though, have a habit to change it ever so slightly what he thinks entertains the listener best.

The simple version is that he was born in a brothel to a woman who had many children. He never knew his father, which wasn’t a surprise considering his mother’s line of work, and he never really had a proper sense of family. The siblings and other kids in the house never really treated each other as family. It was almost always more about survival. Life in the brothel wasn’t easy, not even if you were a snotty kid who ran errands and did some maintenance on the building and the workers. However, growing up in a crowded city with a great big harbour and with a lot of running around he learnt a thing or two about life and it’s light and dark sides.

When Altan was sixteen he hopped on the first international trading ship he could and left his home city for good. He sailed seas for years learning more about the world, about the people, magic and everything. He learnt how to fight, though he always felt like the physical fighting wasn’t for him. He learnt how to better use his magic, especially his work as a herbalist. He learnt from the merchants on the ship.

Sailor’s life wasn’t for him, and though he still travels a lot, selling spices and herbs and offering his herbalist’s skills, he prefers to do that on the dry land. Usually he is part of the bigger caravan of travelling merchants but since he doesn’t want to get too attached, he might also just take his van and hit the road alone or with his apprentice.

Because of the growing instability of the world in these days Altan is more and more working as a healer rather than merchant. He's go to person for people who can't afford or for some other reason won't see a licensed doctor or healer.

• Though being quite flirty, he isn't much of a ladies' man (or men's) and almost never seeks out company just for fun.
• Quite enjoys politics and though he isn't that involved he likes to keeps his ears perked for anything important.
• Great at parties. He tries to attend as many as he can, both the small soirees and lavish dances. He's not rambunctious and highly energetic while attending, just the chill guy telling the most interesting stories and overall being good company.
