Lotus

Lotus, until he was seven years old, lived a normal life with loving parents. They were nomadic, wandering the Coldour region as the whim took them, taking jobs wherever they happened to find them to support themselves. But then the fateful day came where Lotus's parents were ambushed in the mystery dungeon they were delving by none other than Team Ferine, kidnapped to be infected with the insanity before being dropped back into the dungeon they'd been taken from. When his parents didn't return for several days, Lotus foolishly braved the depths of the mystery dungeon to search for them. And oh, he found them alright - feral, mindless, and completely unrecognizable. And then they tried to kill him. He only just barely escaped with his life, fleeing the mystery dungeon and managing to lose his parents in the woods.

Understandably, this hit him hard. Given his young age, if Jasmine of Team Solar hadn't happened to chance across him, his odds of survival were pretty slim. Initially, the Deerling offered to take care of him while they searched for a way to help his parents, which after some initial suspicion the younger Deerling accepted. Over time, the pair grew close, with Jasmine offering to adopt the little one. She would never replace his parents, she insisted, but she would like to be a part of his life regardless. Something that Lotus accepted happily, for Jasmine had come to be another mother to him in his mind.

Due to his young age, Lotus is forbidden from taking part in the more dangerous quests Team Solar takes on, instead being allowed only on the more low-risk ones, and with at least two other teammates with him. While it chafes a little, Lotus understands - he's little, at least right now, and the scars left on his psyche from his parents' mindless attack still affect him deeply. He feels safer with his teammates with him, and has no desire to go haring off on an adventure alone. Usually, he sticks close to Jasmine, not entirely comfortable leaving his mother's side for more than a few hours. It's a dependency Team Solar is slowly trying to wean him off of, with various amounts of success.
