When monster was an egg, he had slight green streaks on his otherwise black shell. Though as soon as cracks started to appear, it was obvious that his inner fire would be a powerful purple.

Commonly, dragon eggs are left in warm locations to hatch on their own, but, for some reason, Monster was laid in the snow during a harsh winter. A mysterious presence moved him somewhere safer once discovered. To this day, Monster has not met this quiet benefactor but does feel grateful for the stranger's paternal assistance.

After his egg hatched, Monster had a fairly typical draconic upbringing: forging a path for himself and learning from his mistakes independently of adult role models. Though challenging, most baby dragons manage to survive this brutal introduction to the world, and Monster was no exception.

Monster's youth was not free of hardship though. Many dangerous situations presented themselves, from tumbling into a frozen over lake to encountering territorial older dragons. Monster was not unscathed by these experiences, but the physical wounds of his encounters healed without trouble.

Once Monster was fully grown, he ventured further from home, eventually running into human settlements. Many of these were scared or openly hostile to dragons, though some of them seemed to be bonded with them as riders or pets. Monster, however, never particularly took to any humans even though he sometimes visited the more friendly among them.

Monster is generally quite content to fly and wander, though he does sometimes ponder a more fulfilling path. It is from here that our adventure truly begins! (Still a work in progress).
