All eyes would be on her. Flowers were flung at her feet, adoring fans would queue just to get a chance to compliment her beauty and voice. But now, eyes pass through her. Ophelia longs to be noticed, to be adored, the way things once were. The way things should still be. But they aren't, and the only ones who can hear her are ghosts as well. And ghosts can't bring her flowers, or offer to take her to Italy, so what good are ghost, really?

Ophelia is a vain esk, any conversation that is not about her is inherently boring. She can feign humility, if the compliments flow often enough, she is "one of the people" now, no longer elevated above the average person. Any "friends" who aren't adoring enough will be left behind, and only those of a certain class can truly fit into her inner circle.

It would be difficult to see the desperation, just looking at her. But on some level even she knows she's no more, and in fact, less useful than the average esk. The end of her old life burned that lesson in well. But other esk don't need to know that. She can regale them with stories of a violent attack by a jealous lover, a transformation to keep alive a gentle beauty, the truth is altogether unimportant. And so, despite the glamour, she clings desperately to remains of a past life, chasing away anything that runs counter to the story she tells.

For years Ophelia was the star of the show. As she aged the up-and-coming stars changed from adorable pets to bitter rivals. Before too long Ophelia was replaced, another young beauty with a talented voice and a plethora of fans. Without her admirers Ophelia felt alone, and worthless. She had a family, although she hadn't kept in touch with the recently, and friends, who mainly stayed close hoping some of her suitors would see. Without her career she had nothing.

Ever since her transformation she has haunted the place that brought her life, happiness, misery, and depression.
