TRAITS

Jo is very polite outwardly. She needed to be very patient for her work, so she always put up a nice exterior. She is not obnoxiously nice, but approachable. She is good at talking and holding conversation.

She is distant. Jo keeps most people in her life at arm's length. It's subconscious mostly, but she alienates herself from people. She is used to alienation because she is alienated from her true desires and aspirations.

Jo is extremely unfulfilled in her life. It leads to her being a bit beaten down. She isn't fulfilled so she's in limbo and can never progress. Everything is stagnant and it has been for years. She used to have hope. She was alienated from her identity, from something that made her who she was.

PAST

Jo grew up in the country. She was very in touch with nature at this point, and loved being outside more than anything. However, due to her talent with numbers, her parents implored her to move to the city for school and urged her to "make something of herself". When she finished high school, she moved out and started college in the city far away from home.

At this point in her life, she was most open to trying new things and having new experiences, mostly because of the environment.

When she graduated college, she obtained a well-paying desk job. She did really well at her job, displaying her usual kindness and polite nature. She worked this job for over seven years. However, she was desperately unfulfilled and didn't know why. The absense of the adventure and freedom of her childhood suffocated her, and one day she dropped everything and quit. She got in her truck, packed her things, and left.

PRESENT

Jo was now on the road. She felt freer than she had since she was a kid. She went out with no plans or expectations. She hoped that if she didn't expect anything, she would finally find somewhere where she truly belonged.

While driving, Jo finds a person on the side of the road who seemed to be having trouble getting their motorcycle to start. She would get to know this person as Don. She drove Don and her motorcycle to the nearest town. The motorcycle would need to be serviced for a few weeks, and Jo promises that Don can rely on her to get around until then. The two hit it off and have a few drinks together, commemorating their new friendship.

Eventually the two grow closer and enter more of an unspoken relationship. The two travel together, experiencing the same towns and people as the other but moving around with each other.

Don

Jo and Don have a deep relationship. Don is the picture of everything Jo ever truly wanted to be. She loves and respects her for her freedom. She sees in Don what she has always needed in her life, and she provided Jo with the spontaneity that she needed in her life. She saved Jo. A lot of the things in their relationship are unspoken and quiet.
