meri has a strong sense of morals and sticks by them no matter what, they are reckless and quick to jump into situations, they enjoy the adrenaline rush from taking risks. they're a great leader despite this and are surprisingly competent, they always make sure to put their crew's safety before their own. They have a good sense of humour and enjoy things like music and eating, they love challenges and playing games.
when they ate the chikara-chikara no mi the news got around their village and everyone started panicking claiming that they're too dangerous to keep around and with their recklessness might destroy the whole village. they were chased out of their village, stole someone's boat and sailed off into the sea. they decided to become a pirate after this. meri is scared of their own power sometimes in fear that they might accidentally hurt someone they care about, they're scared they'll lose control of their strength making everyone in their home village right about them being dangerous.
