PERSONALITY
He's known to put others before himself, especially his loved ones. He often has an optimistic outlook on life, and even though he’s not great at meeting new people, he always tries to make a good impression by providing advice or just greeting someone with a smile. Despite his optimism, he has trouble with self-doubt and has an easier time hyping other people up than himself. He has a long temper and is a lover, not a fighter, but he can still throw a good punch if he needs to protect his family.
BACKSTORY
Though he was born in Maryland, Liam is of Irish descent and has many relatives that still live back in Europe. He was the middle child of his four siblings, and most would ignore or ridicule him after he came out during middle school. He didn’t have a large social circle and had trouble escaping his family’s presence and judgment. He started isolating himself because he feared his classmates would treat him the same, and wasn’t sure how to express himself anymore.
However, after graduating high school, he branched away from his relatives and focused on himself. Even though he didn’t have much money to support himself, he rented an apartment with a few friends in his major. Back in high school, he got into furniture making and refurbishing, giving him a decent rainy-day fund with his other part-time jobs.
Due to his parent’s input, he quickly became self-sufficient and good with money. He barely stays in contact with his family and, after getting married, refused to let them meet his husband and kids. He didn’t want their input or harmful ideals and actions to rub off on them.
RELATIONSHIPS
Shortly after graduating college, Liam’s parents contacted him, claiming that there was a family reunion in the States. Both sides knew that his attendance would cause a ruckus, but his parents claimed that bringing a male date was better than not bringing one at all. Liam felt pressured into the event, and a weekend before tried to drink his pain away at a random gay bar on the other side of town.
With his filter gone, he blurted out his issues and entire life story to his bartender, Lukas. Since Liam’s predicament seemed solvable and he appeared to be a civilized person deep down, the other man volunteered to be his date. Lukas’ presence took most of the pain away, but while he was happy to have someone to talk to, his relatives still wore him down.
When his date was distracted, Liam ran upstairs to his old bedroom and broke into tears, but his new friend found him and comforted him the best he could. Although they hadn’t known each other for a while, Lukas rebutted his family’s statements, showered him with compliments, and gave him a pep-talk.
Once Liam calmed down, his date kissed him, and while he was embarrassed, they decided it’d be better to leave the party and have fun on their own. Since it was late in the evening, they saw a movie and went to dinner afterward. As if it were a movie, the two kissed again outside Liam’s apartment but continued to hang out as friends after that night.
It wasn’t until Lukas stopped dodging the question and admitted liking him that they started dating. Even though it wasn’t said outright, they both knew they were perfect for each other and likely wouldn’t meet anybody else. After a few years, Liam moved in with Lukas since he was getting sick of his roommate’s situation, and shortly after, they got married and bought a house.
