A cultivator who suffered an accident and lost his golden core.
While out on what should have been a relatively tame night hunt, Yángméi was attacked and lost his core. His memory of the incident is hazy, but he claims a demon stole his core, and became convinced he could somehow retrieve it. He threw himself into researching methods, but whether it was actually possible, no one knew. His fellow sect members believed his efforts to be futile. Feeling betrayed, he left the sect after a very public fallout with the sect leader, who Yángméi blamed for sending him out alone on the night hunt.
Yángméi dedicated himself to learning medicine and healing, while traveling to further his research. He's considered an expert in the field of core formation, though he has yet to find a method to retrieve his stolen core. He has a reputation as a bit of an eccentric, which he fosters because he dislikes dealing with people. Though he doesn't have much bedside manner, he is a good doctor and is known to take on patients that are difficult to treat, such as Ài, who suffers from hanahaki.
After losing his core Yángméi falls ill much easier, and suffers from chronic pain and fatigue. He dislikes admitting weakness, especially when constantly comparing himself to how strong he used to be. He regularly pushes his limits to the point of collapse, and refuses to ask for help. His friend Jiànlín often tries to take care of him, even when Yángméi deliberatly makes doing so diffciult. His insecurities make accepting care hard, but Yángméi is lucky people like Jiànlín and Lì-Méi are so stubborn about sticking by him.
