Assur has always had a wandering spirit. He spent most of his early life traveling with his pack, trying to survive. They forayed on into unknown territories, which brought him a lot of excitement. He started writing down maps of the areas and recordings of the weather. The pack moved too slow, much to his chagrin. One day, when exploring, he encountered a pretty sabre like himself, who yearned to travel the wild lands and map the stars. The two have been inseperable ever since, going off on long forays together.

Assur loves Mari with every little fiber of his being, and would die for her. He ensures that she gets as much as she needs to eat or drink before partaking himself. Supplies tend to be scarce, and so the both of them spend most of their time scrounging around, especially within the wintry months. They barter their services and maps for food and other necessities within the different nomadic tribes. Assur lets Mari do the bartering, as he can get a little impatient with haggling.
