Ao Seung-Gi

Seung-Gi was born an exceptionally powerful water dragon of the Under Realm. A seer foretold that if he was born a male, he would have great power and fortune, even exceeding the power of his father, and he would become the next Dragon King of the Under Realm. He grew up with great expectations, but was also greatly coddled by his parents. Upon his first visit to the Heavenly Palace of the Sky Realm, Seung-Gi was instantly infatuated with the Phoenix Emperor’s daughter, Bo-Bae. However, Bo-Bae had no interest in Seung-Gi due to her prejudice against dragons. Being young, reckless and having never been denied before, Seung-Gi made the foolish decision to kidnap the princess and take her to the Under Realm and force her to be his bride. Infuriated, the Emperor stormed the Under Realm Palace and took his daughter back with force. Beaten and shamed, Seung-Gi was disowned by his family and banished from both the Sky Realm and the Under Realm. His punishment was never protested, even by those he would call friends. Seung-Gi felt betrayed and hurt that everyone would abandon him in his time of need.

He had his powers sealed which trapped him in his 16 year old body when in human form and his mighty dragon body was reduced to the miserable wyrm-like appearance of an white snake.

Finding himself trapped on the Earth Realm, powerless and alone, Seung-Gi was overwhelmed by a sense of betrayal and hatred. He grew bitter and refused to accept any responsibility for his wrong doing. He wandered for a long time before he was found by Ho Mi-Sun, a young tiger spirit who took him under her wing.

They lived together for a while but Seung-Gi eventually wanted to return to his true form again and tried every way possible to break the spell placed on him. Unfortunately, he could not break the curse due to the requirement that he earn a Wishing Jewel, which is a magical jewel made by the Divine Emperor. The stipulation being Seung-Gi must commit an act of pure selflessness in order to earn one. Given his selfish nature it was likely he would never be able to break his curse, that is, until he met Eun-Bi

Seung-Gi happened to be by the river when Eun-Bi fell from the cliff. He was not going to bother saving her, given she was a mere mortal, but for some reason changed his mind. Bored with his relative seclusion, Seng-Gi decided that he wanted to possess her and commanded her to be his bride and companion.

He soon finds himself regretful of having kept her as her reluctance to conform to his expectations is endlessly annoying, yet, her presence is oddly refreshing. She challenges him on all fronts while simultaneously being kind and comforting, which only serves to confuse him.

Over time he finds himself starting to mellow out, even questioning his past actions. Seung-Gi eventually comes to accept that he was indeed in the wrong, that his actions were vile and his punishment was just. However, he still longs to break the curse.

He explains his past to Eun-Bi, who does judge him, but also reassures him that he can still make things right, and even if he never breaks the curse, it will still be ok because at least he will have grown for the better.
