Personality

maternal . unfaithful . overprotective

A gentle hearted cat, Grasswhistle always erred more on the quiet side, not exactly shy or introverted, but not opposed to having her own space, and just generally being one to keep things to herself. She’s incredibly selfless, willing to do just about anything for anyone, even at risk of her own well being. She’d never want to put another cat in harm’s way, which is precisely why she’s against Dovemoon and his rule. Cats should not have to fight and kill and die for their home…they should be able to live for it instead, shouldn’t they? She’s not especially vocal about her dislike, but it’s become clearer and clearer that she’s at her tipping point, and is ready to act.

Aside from that, however, she’s a nurturing cat, always trying her hardest to keep those closest to her safe and happy. She can be a tad overprotective, and worries a lot for those around her, but she means well and is a reliable cat. She can be a bit ditzy, head constantly up in the clouds, dreaming of what could have been or what could be, and it can be hard to pull her out of that mind space. As such she can come off as naive and unaware, and has a hard time keeping up with what’s happening around her unless it’s made clear and shared loudly.

History

Flowertrick was not always a Blizzardclan cat. In fact, she’d originally grown up in Bloomclan. She’d never dreamed of moving to a place like Blizzardclan, until she’d met Branchpoke. A dashing molly, the two quickly discovered each other at the border, and fell in love quite fast. However, issues quickly arose in the relationship, as they were both forced to sneak around to see each other. The issue became even worse when Flowertrick discovered that she was pregnant with Branchpoke’s kits. She couldn’t imagine leaving her family behind…but she also couldn’t imagine living without Branchpoke, and she couldn’t think of forcing her kits away from their other mother. So, reluctantly, Flowertrick moved to Blizzardclan, knowing that they’d likely never get to be with their family again. Soon, Grasskit was born, a light of hope and familiarity in a foreign home. Flowertrick did her best to remain happy for Grasskit, and did her best to keep her kit unaware of the horrors that had plagued the clans…but soon Dovemoon’s laws came in full swing. The borders being locked, the threat of execution for any sign of dissent…it made it increasingly hard for Flowertrick to keep up the facade, and even Branchpoke had begun to be wary of her government. It had never been an issue to her before, but now with a child and a mate on the line…it made things much more clear.

When Grasskit was about 5 moons old, the two planned to escape with the kit, either hoping to seek refuge with Bloomclan, or to leave the territory entirely in search of a safer home. However, their plans were thwarted, as a Dovemoon loyalist caught Branchpoke planning their escape route. After reporting the find to Dovemoon, Branchpoke was exiled, and wasn’t able to run fast enough. She was executed just before she was able to escape the territory, leaving behind Flowertrick and Grasskit to mourn. Flowertrick became inconsolable, and completely broke down, having to spend most of her days in the medicine den. Just a bit before Grasskit’s 6th moon, Flowertrick became too ill to handle the stress, and passed away, leaving Grasskit to fend for herself. She was scared, and alone, and was well aware that the clan that claimed to be her home had betrayed her and killed her mothers. She felt sick as Dovemoon named her an apprentice, and was quick to distrust Balsalmtwirl. She rarely spoke, and did whatever she could to miss her lessons…but Balsamtwirl never gave up on her, and took her under his wing, training her not just to be a warrior, but to be kind and compassionate. He taught her all of the good parts of Blizzardclan, of dancing and singing and of family…everything that she felt Dovemoon had so cruelly taken away. Most of all, he restored her faith in cats, and helped her to be more trusting and loving. She eventually reached warriorhood, and was given the suffix -whistle, for what is a dance without its song?

Throughout her training, Grasswhistle had befriended a cat named Snowyslide. A hopeless romantic, Snowy had wanted aer sibling Whirlpool to have an amazing relationship, and ae had thought Grasswhistle to be the perfect match. Ae approached Grasswhistle one day with the proposition of a date with Whirlpool…Grasswhistle supposed that they were cute, and figured that Snowy would have a good idea on what a good match looked like, and so she agreed, unaware of the storm that was to come. The two became mates for a short while, but then Grasswhistle learned of Whirlpool’s intense support of Dovemoon, and that sick feeling they’d felt all those moons ago at their own apprentice ceremony returned. At first, she’d let it slide, figuring it was just a side effect of losing a few family members including Snowy…but even as Grasswhistle tried to support them, they never seemed to quite get better, and their loyalty only grew more and more. If Grasswhistle wished to leave, would Whirlpool kill her for it? Would The thought made her sick, and she eventually broke things off, though not before discovering that Whirlpool was expecting her kit. At first she was horrified. Would Whirlpool even let her see her own kit? Would they poison them to think just as Dovemoon did?

Well, eventually the kit arrived, and Whirlpool was just as quick to dispose of them. Grasswhistle immediately swooped in, wasting no time in asking to be a Permamonarch. She never liked the idea of being one of Dovemoon’s lackey’s much anyways. Grasswhistle spent moons doing her best to raise her kit right, even with how young she was and her inexperience. She simply used everything she’d been taught, and asked Balsamtwirl if he’d be willing to help out and be Hyper’s grandfather, so that they at least had some family…She now spends her days in the nursery. Watching. Waiting. Plotting. Praying that one day, something will be done about Dovemoon, and that Hypervoice will be able to live in a world without all of the horrors that she’d been forced to live through. But only time will tell if things may change, and Grasswhistle can truly only hope for now for the best.
