being a dragon is embarrassing, it's easier to just act like an old armless, eyeless, penniless loser and avoid nosy people who want his powers

he's surprisingly naive at heart for being VERY old, but also very guarded over all things regarding himself, so it works out.
he prefers to stay quiet and let people present themselves for judgment over time.

his prosthetic is really old and doesn't hold up all that well. he NEVER takes the prosthetic off, he's painfully dependent on it and hates thinking that he's lost an arm lol.

also he can't shift all that often, it's definitely intentional to take dragon or humanoid form depending on where he's roughing it. if he thinks he'll be out in the wilds alone for months, he'll happily keep his original, dragon form up. but where civilization is concerned he prefers to earn a (temporary) living as a humanoid
his dragon tail can either be long or extremely nubby-short depending on how hard he's trying to save on space or disguise his true identity

also the black markings all over him are somewhat like birthmarks, but for dragons, he's pretty shy about them and rarely (if ever) explains. only most dragon-scholars from days gone by understand that he sticks out like a sore thumb, dragon wise lol.
