As the sole child of the royal family, Alexander could never feasibly have grown up a girl. So, it was decided that, to make her fit for her place on the throne, that she would become the prince instead. Woefully underperforming in her abilities, she wishes she could be anything but.
Her confidence is even further pushed down at the event of her father hiring a young knight to be her retainer - her opposite in every way, and yet someone who feels so, so familiar.
However, she finds herself drawn to the young man; in many ways, they are peers, but his personality seems like night and day compared to hers. It's hard not to be drawn to someone who feels so utterly different.
- Generally is kept inside, and doesn't get a lot of time outside the castle
- Her favorite thing to do is take a walk on the castle grounds, especially when she can be alone

A timid person at heart, Alex has never been able to live up to the image of the crown prince. Her father, a strong, confident ruler, is adamant that she become a proper man - or more specifically, a proper ruler, but she fails to live up to his expectations.
She has a daring streak, but it is rare that she expresses it from years of pushing down her personality. She's become timid, reserved and quiet, yearning for someone to take her for a true adventure. Something she knows she cannot have.

A young knight with a rather unpleasant disposition. Despite this, Alex finds herself drawn to Cas, his mysterious past, and what seems to be a sense of familiarity. She'll only know why this is much later.

The King and Queen of the kingdom; Alex is their only child, and as such she carries a great amount of responsibility.
She was never mistreated by them, but she struggles every day knowing that she will be screwed if she is unable to live up to their lofty ideals of her as the next in line.
