Overview

ObsidianStar is not your average leader, in fact, rather the opposite. Coming from a family with an odd choice in life, he had actually taken a different path from them all, drifting from their beliefs into his own. Instead of using peace to guide cats and risk being betrayed, Obsidian uses fear to make cats obey, and to lessen the chance of being betrayed or messed with. He’s changed the rules of his clan, and any cat that dare challenges him for it will face the consequences. He doesn’t go easy on just any feline, and rarely accepts new cats into the clan. HE names the kits when they are born, and HE decides if they go to a gathering or not. Changing the rules also came to making them to his preference, as he has a Medicine cat as his mate. Cats despise him, or hate him, there is no inbetween.

Personality

For short, cold and mature. Obsidian is not welcoming to new faces, and will turn any cat away, injured or not, if he thinks they are unfit to give a purpose to his clan. Coming off as cold is what he likes, showing cats that he cannot easily be broken, that he will stand against all word and authority that isn’t his. Being mature, he is strict about his rules and does NOT like to mess around, most of the time never smiling unless it’s a reaction to the suffering of a feline, or the jokes from his mate.

Being all this though, he isn’t.. All bad. Yes, he is sort of like a tyrant and so on, but that does not mean his heart is completely black and covered in sorrow. He is incredibly defensive over kits and heavily strict with them, making sure they don’t step out of line whenever he is around. Apprentices are more of an issue, always annoying him in anyway possible. Warriors he finds just as annoying, like asking obvious questions that any feline should know, and so on. With all this, Obsidian can only really say he’ll be truly loyal to his mate and adoptive son, as they are the only cats that will even be able to manage being within a fox length of him. His strict rules keep the clan in place, his stern voice lets cats know his authority, and his hidden cruel ways guarantees cats do not betray him or his mate.

Story

Kit moons

Obsidian's parents were incredibly strict with their beliefs on Starclan, so much so that if any of the kits messed up, they would punish them. The kits HAD to grow to be perfect so that their souls would be pure when they entered Starclan. Even with his parents always on his back, Obsidian was the reckless one of them all, following with him was actually his almost twin like brother, except his pelt was a rusty red. Both of them carried the same patterns and looks, minus the color of their fur. Obsidian was somehow the less aggressive one between them both, but that made him the more mature one. They would get in trouble, irritate cats, mock others, and ruin hunts when they got the chance. Obsidian and his brother were caught trying to sneak out of camp by his parents, and they finally confronted the cats of what they had been doing under their noses. They were both furious, and held the kits back by 3 moons. Obsidian and Garnet thought it was unfair, but this time was spent wisely between the two of them. They learned how they could easily read each other's looks and almost know how to finish each other's sentences. They could communicate to each other just by expressions, even with another cat around. They tried to mimic their movement together too, swaying their tails at the same time, turning their heads, talking, and so on. Around their 8th moon, they finally became apprentices…. And skipped their own ceremony to run around.

Apprentice moons

Put under strong mentors, Obsidian got one that was sort of like him, and his mentor admired him greatly, hoping to train Obsidian to be like him. He wasn’t evil, but used unorthodox methods for almost everything. Garnet and Obsidian rarely saw each other for how busy they were in training, trying to catch up with the others, Garnet was further behind, as he kept getting into trouble with other apprentices and even fighting his own mentor, which gave him a scar that ran down his side. Obsidian really wanted to match with his brother, look for look, so he tried to take on his mentor during one training session. Obsidian was actually getting quite large for his moons, and was coming in just under his mentor's height at only 10 moons, and his strength was growing slowly everyday. He did not win the spar, but his mentor saw the fire in him, and began to train Obsidian with more lethal battle moves, and ways to make cats obey by sending fear down their spine. He took pride in this, and looked up to his mentor for this session. Tragedy did strike the camp only a moon later, when the river rose unsuspectedly and swept through the camp, taking cats with it. Obsidian and Garnet worked together to pull cats out and gather others, but the cries for help that came from their younger brothers was not forgettable. Attempting to rush in, Garnet shoved Obsidian to the side, begging him not to risk his life. Obsidian cared for his younger siblings, even if they weren’t close, and he shoved Garnet off him and tried to go in again. His brother headbutted him away from the direction of camp, and stood his ground, not letting his slightly older brother risk his life out there. Cats now gathered around as Obsidian stood up, snarling at Garnet, claws unsheathing, begging to get past. When the red tom refused, a fight broke out, and the two clashed together in a fight out of blind anger, cats around stopped to watch while others raced to try to grab cats that were coming up on the shore. Obsidian and Garnet equally gained scars across their nose and shoulders, though Obsidian took the worst as Garnet landed a deep gash from his throat down his chest, which was not where Garnet intended to aim. The fight ended just like that, and the medicine cats rushed to Obsidian's side while Garnet was bashed and scowled. Though, it’s not like these warriors didn’t want to see that fight, they stood to the side as if they had been waiting for it for so long. When the flood ended only a few nights later, Obsidian was bedridden in the medicine den, silently mourning the deaths of his younger siblings, ignoring Garnet all at the same time. Garnet tried to come back and apologize, but Obsidian refused to listen, and he would always either look away or glare with his icey eyes.

Warrior moons

Obsidian and Garnet were held back 2 more moons, and finally became warriors at 14 moons, both at the same time. They each gained the prefix “snarl” to represent their attitudes and way of speaking to cats, neither of them minded. Garnet and Obsidian were still quite tense, but they slowly grew closer again. Infact, the only reason they bonded was because of their cousin, SlateThroat. Their older cousin was so sick of them pissing cats off because they were just mad at each other, the older feline got them together one night near the river and made them talk it out. It worked, fortunately for the old tom, and he left them to bond. Obsidian and Garnet explained their reasons and actions, and Obsidian finally accepted Garnet's apology. It was still tense after this, but both of them were back to mimicking each other and their ability to read each other's glances. Both of them grew to be incredibly tall, taller than any cats in the clan, and they both turned out muscular from their training. Obsidian spotted a rather odd feline in camp that he seemed to admire. He was a fresh full medicine cat when Obsidian was 16 moons, making him 14 moons, just 2 moons younger than Obsidian. His name was HickoryBark, and he had a strange and cruel mind like Obsidian, always testing deadly nightshade on felines that he thought weren’t fit to make it, and experimenting with other deadly plants. Obsidian admired him, and began to push his attention to the medicine cat over Garnet, which the red feline did take notice of, and began to grow more aggressive to his brother again. Obsidian had returned to camp one night from helping one of their ambushed patrols, a new scar covering his back thigh. When being treated, Hickory did try to feed him something deadly, but Obsidian had been so observant that he pushed it away, denying it. Hickory tried again, and failed. Of course it was irritating, but now it made him curious about Obsidian and interested in him. During Obsidian's 24th moon, he was named Deputy because the former one was actually killed by Hickory, which he had done purposely for Obsidian to take the role. Both of them were close friends at this time now, and Garnet held a sour attitude for his brother and his best friend, along with the fact Obsidian was chosen over him, but that was because he somehow was the less violent one. ObsidianSnarl became ObsidianStar only 3 moons after being named Deputy, coming from the help of leaf-bare making the leader sick, and Hickory’s poisonous plants. He got his lives, but was almost denied 2 of them from his parents, yet they were given, and Obsidian returned a.. Not so changed cat. Now that he was in power, he began to change things, and Starclan was disapproving of everything he did as they watched from above. He changed the rules of feeding elders and queens first over any other role, saying that only those fit to truly hunt for themselves may eat first, and kits were always allowed to eat. This wasn’t as big of a problem, only making it so that elders had to get up and get their prey now. Other codes were changed, like how he refused to choose a Deputy and instead chose to do things himself when he wanted, and he removed the one stating Medicine cats could not have a mate or kits, just so that he could be with the tom he had fallen for. Obsidian and Hickory became mates around his 30th moon, and that was what finally set Garnet off. Near sunning rocks, Obsidian was sunbathing, that was until he was ambushed by Garnet. The red tom tried to convince him to revert the codes, and leave the insane medicine cat, they both fought there just like how they had moons ago near Windclan. Instead this time, it was not Obsidian who was going down. Obsidian did not want to kill his brother, but that was his first instinct. As an alternate choice, he shoved his red colored brother into the river, the strong current carried the large feline down the water and over the falls. Obsidian doesn’t know whether or not he survived, but he did not go to check, instead returning to camp, and continuing his duties.

FAMILY

Brother •

Garnet is Obsidians twin, they were extremly close. They would work together on many things, get in trouble together, and so on. Obsidian was the eldest and more mature, but Garnet was the more violent and smart one. Garnet always tried to convince Obsidian of his choices, and only grew more irritated when Obsidian fell for Hickory, and was paying less attention to him. The day that they fought by the river, was one of Obsidians regrets. As much as he didn't like his brother, he still cares for him, and hopes he's okay.

Sisters •

His little sisters, he loved them dearly, incredibly actually. They were closer to his mom and dad then he was, but they would still goofy around with him often. The day Garnet kept Obsidian from saving them in the flood was the day he felt a part of him die. He thinks Garnet was just protecting him, but suspicioun grows when Garnet talks about he was the better sibling. Perhaps Garnet was jealous he'd leave him for them.

Parents •

His father and mother, who were exremly strict with their beliefs. They were more unloving to their kits because of this, as they tried to make them the perfect kits so that they can get into Starclan. All these cats wanted was to be blessed with luck and more after life than any cat, but it ruined their family, and their relation with their own kits.

Cousin •

Obsidians older cousin, older by 30+ moons. Yes, his skinny ass is quite irritating with how angry he is all the time, but Obsidian appreciates him. Slate helped mend his and Garnets relationship for a few moons, and overall tried to look out for him. As weak as Slate may seem, he is a wise cat, at least to Obsidian. Slate has been there for him over his parents, he's loyal to him. And LOVES to annoy him.

O/FAMILY

Mate •

What an odd feline to have fallen for, yet these two seem to be a match made for Starclan. Obsidian, a slightly cruel feline. Hickory, a.. Cruel? Medicine cat. Obsidian fell for him at a young moon, and learned to avoid his poisons he tried to use when he was hurt. They both grew on one another, and when he became leader, he changed the rule for Medicine cats not being able ot have mates. Cats dislike him for his changes, but Obsidian is devoted to Hickory, forever loyal, and would give his life for the smaller tom.

Adoptive son •

Lilac was adopted by Hickory first. Obsidian doesn't know why, but is okay with it. Lilac is Hickorys apprentice, and is completely blind. he wasn't assigned because he had no choice, Lilac was assigned because he wanted it, Obsidian admired that of his adoptive son. He will defend him against any bullies of the clan, and is sometimes shocked at how well his senses are.

ENEMIES

Annoying Cousin •

Slates brother, and even more incredibly irritating feline. Venom tends to challenge Obsidian for his authority and even back talks him, normally ignoring any of his orders. Obsidian has threatened to exile him, but Slate is always able to convince him. Venom breaks rules, and attempts to get at Obsidian through Hickory, it doesn't work.. Most of the time.

Irritating rogue •

Obsidian had to travel to the barn one night, looking for a gift for Hickory and his 10th moon together. He ran into the small cat that only would insult and mock him, mock his clan, and mock his looks. Silicone would nip and bite at Obsidian when he couldn't turn fast enough, he was a rat, pestering him. SIlicone attempted to follow him to his clan and attack the cat he seemed close to. He didn't get too far, and has started to avoid Obsidian..

Ex-mate •

Overly draumatic and manipulative. Obsidian won't admit that he could be so easily manipulated, but he was by this feline. She forced him to believe she was the only feline that would ever love him, in reality, she was using him for his power and protection. When he found out that she had already mated with another tom, he grew angry and attacked her. Silver wasn't able to defend herself, and almost died that night, though Obsidian did not kill her. He swore that she would watch him have a better life than her.
