The Snalligator

The Snalligator started his life as a witches familiar, but the witch quickly realized that she had been bamboozled - that her newly purchased companion was not, in fact, a snail dragon, and would never breathe fire. She promply left him to fend for himself in the swamplands around her home. Now, many, many years later, he has grown into a massive, ferocious beast that will most likely never stop growing. Seeing this, the witch keeps trying to convince him to take her back, but he knows he's too good for her.
