A large and rather intimidating man, Azazel is a true demon. He revels in sin and corruption, subtly creating chaos whenever possible. He is surprisingly powerful for an incubus, a species not known for their strength, and has made a name for himself among his kind. Not much is known about his past and he is not keen on sharing it. He spends his days either screwing up the human world or reclining in his rather luxurious abode in Hell.

Despite the vagueness of his past, there is evidence of an unkind childhood in his behavior. He does not react well to affection from others and distances himself from the concept of relationships. That being said, if one watches him carefully, they will find that he does exhibit fondness for certain things. He is usually very guarded in his personality, preferring not to share details about himself, especially with strangers. Remarkably intelligent and alert, he is very persuasive and rather manipulative. He is high maintenance and prefers a life of luxury over the possessions of a middle class man. Regardless of his age, he has adapted well to modern society and can work technology just as well as any young human who had grown up with it all their lives. He loves chaos and sin, though he manages to keep it under control when he spends extended periods of time on earth. Though he does not like children all that much, they often do not sense the dangerous nature he exudes and instead find themselves drawn to him. Due to being a guardian/babysitter for an overgrown child for the past seven centuries, he's developed the mindset of an exasperated parent and it shows in his arbitrary and (rather specific) rules, his defeated sighs when something happens, excessive concern when his loved ones leave his sight, and so on.

Azazel is a supremely neat person, despite living in a volcanic land of death. He keeps his living spaces tidy and his body clean and dislikes messy people. (Mikhail tries his limited patience often.) He has several favorite authors that he laments never having met and is always on the lookout for his next favorite book. He dislikes showing interest in most things, so it takes a careful eye to see through his walls. He has a fondness for kissing, which is one of his more poorly kept secrets. Fashion intrigues him, mainly because it shifts so often, but he tries to stick to the same style for long periods of time. (More than once he's tried to wear a waistcoat in public.) He's been notorious throughout history for being excessively violent with slavers and perpetrators of child exploitation. He casually smokes and likes candles. When spending extended periods of time in the human world, he masquerades as a college law professor and is constantly surrounded by (mostly true) rumors that he's sleeping with his students, though it has never been proven.
