Profile

Hibiki was abandoned when he was a young pup. Luckily for him he was dropped off by a nearby shrine where a kind priest lived and just so happened to find him while doing chores one day. The priest nursed the injured Uchikomimi and raised him after that where Hibiki soon learned to do chores and help out around the shrine that had frequent visitors at the time. Those visitors began to dwindle after the priest had left to go do errands one day and left Hibiki in charge of the shrine.

The uchikomimi continued his chores daily and set up the shrine for visitors, offering them tea and snacks and informing them of his master's absence to go run errands. After a while people just stopped showing up though and the shrine was slowly forgotten and Hibiki with it.

Eventually there was a rumor that spread around a nearby town of an ayakashi haunting an abandoned shrine up in the mountains. The town decided to request the aid of a Crab Clan shugenja to try and exorcise the ayakashi out of fear that it might eventually come down from the mountains to terrorize them. When the shugenja visited the shrine he was surprised to find that it was in perfect condition compared to many run down and abandoned shrines he had seen in the past and looked as if someone was living there as well. A small ball of white came out to greet him, offering a tiny smile and hot green tea with snacks until its master returned from running errands.

The shugenja decided to ask the small creature a question, "How long has your master been gone?" which left the uchikomimi somewhat flustered as no one had asked him that question until now. With tail swaying he answered:

"Approximately fifty-five years, but this will make it six." With that said, the shugenja couldn't help but chuckle and pat the uchikomimi's head gently.

"You have done a fine job of tending to this shrine for him, little one. You're very loyal, but I do not think he will be returning from that errand." His smile faded, "Maybe you should leave your post here and come with me instead?"

"Or maybe you could wait here with me instead..." Hibiki frowned, his ears resting flat against his head, eyes welling with tears.

"Okay... anything you want. We'll wait here together." But after the years passed Hibiki came to find acceptance and the shugenja, Hiruma, Heikegani became his new master.
