Found in a car at only 3 months old and taken in by a family of rednecks in a trailer park, Frankie-Martin's life was the fodder of offbeat YA before any of the magic got involved. A rogue experiment of a mechanical god unknowingly raised by a covenant of wizards, any supernatural inclinations were somehow hidden from him until he was 24, where instead he had to deal with the drama of being a transgender child in small town North Carolina. Diagnosed with bipolar disorder and psychosis from a young age, his comfort of choice was technology, especially radios, taking them apart and rebuilding it in his own image, turning an old building on his parent's property into a proper broadcast station. This, plus a great committment to his schoolwork and less committment to their social life, netted him a full ride scholarship to MIT, which was great until a mental breakdown sent him home in their last semester.

This is where everything starts crashing down - after 6 months hiding out in the broadcast station in monotonous isolation, the static that used to be a comfort to him led him down a rabbit hole of small town drama, supernatural conspiracy, and the truth behind his birth. His whole family is mages in a tense ceasefire with several other supernatural families in town, he was made to start a progeny of machines given flesh, and that's just what's going on with him. Him and several friends and enemies from his youth have had to put aside their differences and actually get to the bottom of these old unresolved tensions lest the quarrels of the past destroy their future.

...that, and Frankie desperately wants to find the mom that sacrificed everything to save him.

Impulsive, loud mouthed, and unapologetic, Frankie-Martin is a train wreck you can't look away from and they thrive in that position. They're not afraid to call it like they see it no matter who it's too, even if that gets them plastered across the pavement. They act first, think later, and have the phone number of their dad and boyfriend memorized when he ends up in a holding cell.

Under the surface, he feels lost. He's reckless, barely in control of his own emotions, desperate to not feel powerless in a world seemingly out to strip away his agency. He cares about those close to him with his entire heart, and fears he can't do anything to protect him. They act out, they overprepare, and they act fast because if they try and fail, they can at least say they gave it their all. They're prone to isolation, especially when they feel like a failure.
