Halcyon Myst

This obsession is not letting me slide - I feel I'm damaging myself to stay alive.

Summary

Ivorykyn, beings gifted another life by the Rift. Their bodies are plated with opal bone and while they may hold a human-like appearance in shape, one only has to look a little closer to see how deeply they've been altered by their new undeath. For some this is a blessing, for Halcyon Myst, this is a curse.

Hal is a tall ghastly man, covered in bone plating and with his upper face wrapped tightly in bandages. His day to day life could be succinctly described as thus: Wake up, smoke, complete the few misc tasks given by the guildhall, smoke, stare ominously back at people, smoke, drink cheap wine, smoke, sleep. Rinse and repeat ad nauseam with minimal deviations.

It was the death of his closest friend that started this cycle and Halcyon is sure it will be his own death that ends it. He was entrusted by his friend, Valvir, to see the future for him and to find the lock to an obsidian key that he was given upon Valvir's death. Despite that wish, he remains pessimistic and untethered throughout life, awaiting for the Rift to take him once again in death, hopefully this time for good.

Personality

Grief has left this man hollowed out, he moves throughout life as though he's a ghost. Halcyon is pessimistic, to him there are no truly 'good' people, only people waiting to further their own needs. Death for him is cruel as it does not wait for anyone, it will rip and tear it's way through every person he has and will meet. The lost of his dearest friend, the only true paragon of good, is what perpetuated this pessimism.

That paranoia has ruined him as he drags through life under the belief that someone or more likely something is waiting to kill him. As such he hoards a multitude of items that may never be useful but just in case one day they may help. Interesting enough, Halcyon does not fear for his own life, he has already died once, another death would be a mercy. Instead, he fears for the people around him dying in his place, as he feels as though he is cursed with horrible luck.

Only recently has Hal begun to break out of his shell, revealing a similar creature to how he seems at first, however there is a sense of humor hidden under all of it, even if that humor is usually at the expense of one of his party members. Sometimes it seems as though there's something dark hidden under the bones and bandages that make up Hal, he revels in violence eager to destroy any that threaten his companions or innocents. When he deigns to speak of his dear friend, theres something manic behind his eyes.

He is at a very delicate period in life, it would be terribly easy to sway him towards evil, just as it'd be easy for him to continue the path of good. One can only hope if Halcyon snaps he will only take himself with it.

Trivia

Hal rarely talks about himself, usually he deflects to things that made him this way or what his dear friend may have enjoyed, never truly about his own feelings and opinions. Still, there are a few things he enjoys or a few quirks that are his and his alone.

• Do not trust the childhood situationship that shit will kill you.
• A skilled blacksmith, though he remains an adventurer.
• Sometimes he rubs the bridge across his nose in pain, it is unknown what rests under them only the occasional flash of red.
• Can and will hoard weird trinkets, like cafe plastic utensils.
