She's a big fan of fantasy related media. loves the idea of magic and dragons. And after arriving to a world where those things actually exist made her very excited.

She travels with Avene and Xin

About 6 months after she arrived to the world, Avene pissed off another true dragon who later targeted Kayla when she was alone as a threat to Avene. The injury was severe, but not fatal and thanks to the world's magic she was back on her feet within two months. She doesn't blame Avene for the attack, but feels it is her own fault for underestimating this world living with the mind set that she had back on Terra Origin (Earth). Although she was already practicing swordsmanship before, she's becomes much more proactive about training

Although she really didn't like him much at first, because of his crappy personaility. After she was attacked, she did notice that Avene was (very) slowly maturing and Kayla started to respect him more.

She really hopes she can learn to use magic, as Xin says its not impossible, since Origin lacks enough magic to allow much spellcasting whereas Zhazrin is rich in magic energy, and being in the magic rich world could affect her and cause her to be able to use it

Backstory (arriving to new world through to meeting Avene):

She's from Terra Origin (Earth, current/our era) and she happened upon a strange blue light (a portal) and intrigued on what it could be she stepped into it and found herself on a different world. She was able to integrate into a small village she found and lived with one family that was willing to take in a stranger. She learned how to help out in the village and wasn't all too bothered by her circumstances. She knew a plenty of the villages looked at her with disdain, and disliked her for her strange knowledge and actions, although they left her alone. About three months after she arrived and was returning to the home of the family she lived with; some men attempted to abduct her. She managed to get away, the men didn't expect her to fight back as much as she did, but after Kayla became more wary of her surroundings when she was alone.

During the fourth month, the village was threatened by a true dragon wanting a sacrifice of a young woman, or at least a shop keeper claimed so, and many people saw a unknown drachian man in his shop earlier. Kayla knew the other villagers were wanting to send her, even though none said it. She decided to offer herself up as the sacrifice. She was honestly rather excited to meet an actual dragon and decided it would be worth it to meet one even if she was to die. When she met the dragon, Avene, she was somewhat disappointed to learn that the villagers had made up the sacrifice (they had only heard tells of dragons as none had really visited their off the path town before and apparently Xin mentioned he was traveling with a true dragon when he went to buy supplies in town). Not really wanting to go back to the village (and wanting to stay with the dragon even though she was rather annoyed with him (because dragon)) she asked that she travel with Avene (and Xin). They accepted, just saying she'd have to be responsible for herself, and so she headed off on an adventure.
