Arin is a kind and caring woman who possesses a motherly nature, traits built upon from the years of being a nanny. Her impulsive and sometimes childish demeanor adds a sense of spontaneity to her interactions that will sometimes get her into trouble (though she almost never does things out of malice). She does well when following orders, though she is easily bored, so she tends to daydream a lot.
Arin is talkative. She prefers the bustle of conversation over the serenity of places like the Sacred World of the Kai, though she appreciates it during times where she needs to think. Despite her outgoing and seemingly 2D nature, she can and will be introspective, something she’s picked up on over time when the biggest question in her life was “Who am I really?” She can be mature and serious. She just prefers not to be.

Backstory

i. the beginning
Her home universe was one of the six that were erased. The Grand Supreme Kai, having seen a glimpse of the future with the help of a seer on a mortal planet, knew about this event years in advance. As Arin was supposed to be their successor, the Supreme Kai cared deeply for her and devised a plan to save her from being erased. With the use of magic, they transformed her into an arrow and launched her into space, hoping she would survive.
It took Arin a very long time to reach Earth, and by the time she arrived, her universe had already long since vanished. The prolonged time as an arrow had an unfortunate consequence - it caused her to lose her memory. She wandered by herself for quite some time until she was taken in by some villagers, who quickly fit her into the role of a nanny for the village children. They also discovered her incredible strength and other unusual abilities, so she helped them with tasks like carrying heavy objects.
At some point after that (but before Raditz's arrival), a large and terrifying green man started occupying the nearby forest, which frightened the villagers. They sent Arin to confront him, but it was clear she had no chance of winning. Piccolo, feeling the slightest bit of pity for her pathetic attempt, agreed to train her after she begged him to. From then on, Arin followed closely in the footsteps of the Namekian.
ii. the middle
Training with Piccolo proved more challenging than she had ever anticipated. It was a brutal experience that lasted quite a while until he started warming up to her, albeit just a little bit. Their relationship didn't truly start to improve until Gohan came into the picture.
Years would go by, foes would wreak havoc and be defeated by the people she would come to fondly remember as her friends, yet there was the persisting question of who or what she was. As far as she knew, she’d been conscious for upwards of one hundred years. Too many to be a regular Earthing and still look so young, that was for sure. The only clues she had were of her appearance and the fact that her friends could not detect her ki.
It wasn’t until the 25th World Martial Arts Tournament that Arin’s life-long question would be answered by none other than the arrival of the Supreme Kai.
iii. the present
After Majin Buu's defeat, Arin took some time to process the revelation before ultimately deciding to stay with the Supreme Kai. She spent some time on the Sacred World of the Kai to learn from him and the Elder Kai, though would eventually be allowed to travel between planets to visit her friends after some begging.
Design notes
- Arin often likes to wear “cute” clothing, though she’s always down to try different kinds of styles and aesthetics. She doesn’t care about the colors she wears, though she’ll most often be seen in shades of pink, white, and black.
- For jewelry, she has a plain silver earring on the helix of her right ear. If the outfit calls for it, she’s willing to wear more jewelry as long as it’s silver.
- Arin also wears Potara earings. Hers are silver and dark purple, and she only wears them while she’s in uniform.
Relationships
Initially, Piccolo and Arin had a strictly mentor and mentee relationship, but their bond grew stronger once Gohan managed to break through Piccolo's walls. Arin greatly admires Piccolo and considers him one of her closest friends.
Arin has known Gohan since he was a child. She trained with him under Piccolo’s mentorship and considers him to be like her baby brother.
From Arin’s perspective, the Supreme Kai is simply her boss and her friend. Their history goes way back, though the Supreme Kai never elaborates on the specifics. He becomes wistful and melancholic whenever their time together is mentioned, leaving Arin to stop trying to probe him for more information. Otherwise, their relationship is good.
Arin was the first to find her in the wreckage of her Saiyan pod. Nara wasn’t particularly trusting, so Arin was willing to leave her be while Android 17 looked after her on his island. They only reunite after the events of the Tournament of Power, and they get along well.
