Behind the popular UTAITE Mirai, Yuma Hirai. Yuma has always had a passion for music, and still does. Yuma's teen years felt incredibly lonely despite having some friends. Even though he has been in friend groups, he felt like he couldn't relate with anyone. It was difficult for him to depend on anyone because he felt embarrassed of his interests.
When Yuma went on the internet to listen to music, he's seen many singers who became successful by covering songs and even joining in chorus videos. This interest grew Yuma's love for music and eventually, Yuma started posting his covers. Yuma was an above average singer, so he attracted an audience with his unique way of singing, and the more covers he posted, the more his voice improved.
Wanting to produce music too, Yuma decided to go to college to learn how to produce music. Thanks to that experience, he managed to publish a few original songs and fortunately, his viewers loved them.
Yuma has always separated his internet persona from himself. It's not that he's a completely fake person, it's just that he didn't feel comfortable with people knowing who he is in real life and how his face looks like. Only a few of his singer friends know how he looks like and how he's like in real life, and that was fine with him. He doesn't like posting his face on the internet, he wants people to focus on his voice only. His passion and love for music.
Yuma has always been a chill and easy-going guy. While he doesn't smile much, he lets people know that he enjoys their company. He can also be a bit nosy, getting whatever information he wanted. Yuma's also a snitch when it comes to telling embarrassing and funny stories of his friends, but he only tells that to people he's completely comfortable with.
When it comes to relationships, Yuma prefers a slow burn. He prefers to get to know a guy well enough so that he can date him. Yuma also has dry humor and can say things that make people wonder what the hell is on his mind.
- Yuma has good memory, which is why he's able to recall many moments in his life with others, even when they aren't that interesting. Yuma also knows a lot of useless trivia, most of them being incredibly concerning.
- Yuma could never keep plants alive. He always forgets about them and they die fast due to the lack of care Yuma has.
- Yuma gets embarrassed singing in real life. He can sing well during livestreams, but that's because his face isn't shown. So whenever he's caught singing in real life, his face gets red and he's speechless.
- Yuma despises the smell of cigarettes. One of his old friend groups used to smoke and he stopped hanging out with them since he couldn't handle the smell they always have on them.
- Yuma usually wears chokers and shirts that might be too big for him.
- In Mirai's design, his hair fangs sort of resemble cat ears.
- Mirai has two bandaids on his face.
- Yuma designed Mirai back in high school. He made his official design when he started his career as a singer.
Reo
Best Friend
Yuma and Reo first met when Yuma decided to rent Reo on a rent-a-boyfriend site. He didn't really need someone to pretend to be his boyfriend, he just wanted to try and see what happens when he rents a boyfriend. The two of them managed to get along fast since Yuma knew how to keep a conversation going. Yuma would sometimes rent Reo just to hang out, and after Reo quit his rental job, the two of them haven't been able to meet again. However, Yuma and Reo met each other again at a GrimDawn concert, and exchanged contact. Yuma and Reo became best friends and whenever Reo wanted to hang out with a friend, Yuma was always the first person he thought of.
Mito
Ex-Stalker/Boyfriend
Mito is a big fan of Mirai, and when he found out who Mirai truly is in person, he got more curious about him. He'd bother Yuma no matter what, which was unfortunate for Yuma since they share some classes. Eventually, they became close but not in a way friends normally are. Yuma hates Mito's guts, but at the same time he's always with him and tolerates him, and would even call him "Mimi" when Mito never forced him to call him by nickname. While it may seem like Yuma's just tolerating him, Yuma finds himself enjoying Mito's company, which confuses him. Mito loves to rile him up and there would be times where he'd hurt him on purpose. The two of them have a complicated relationship and they're both aware that it might not be healthy, though somehow none of them can get away from each other. However, as they grew closer with each other, Mito started treating Yuma nicer and Yuma started warming up to him. Eventually, the two of them became partners.
