Backstory (Cartoon Universe):

Freezy was born to a family of fishers in the arctic circle region of Norway and spent much of her kithood on her family's boat in the Norwegian sea. Over the years, she was taught how to sail the ship herself so that she too could continue the family business. However, as much as she loved the lifestyle of a fisherwoman, she longed to explore the world far beyond and far south of her home. More than anything, she dreamed of being a free pirate, going on many daring adventures and living to spread her tales far and wide! So Freezy worked her way to getting her own little ship and set sail out on the open ocean, promising to constantly send postcards back home and to always keep her family with her in her heart wherever she went.

Freezy's adventures were very successful at first. She sailed along the north sea from Norway to Portugal, stopping constantly to explore the land and meet new friends along the way. The journey was already fun, but Freezy's end goal was making it to the Bahamas. So she gathered her supplies and went on a long, lonely transatlantic journey from Portugal to Canada. Lots of sailing across the North American east coast later, Freezy was almost at her destination!

...Until a horrible shipwreck left her stranded on a deserted island. She was so close, but she was suddenly stuck! Not knowing if or when she'd ever be rescued, Freezy started preparing for the worst and made a very makeshift survival camp on that island using what was left of her destroyed ship. She lived on that island for about a week until one fateful day when a red fox sailor arrived to the island with a treasure map in his one hand and his bird on his shoulder. Freezy was quick to not trust Foxy upon meeting him due to him being a treasure seeking thief and all, but she had no choice but to accept his offer to join his crew if she didn't want to be stuck on that awful island for even longer. Freezy soon learned that there was far more to Foxy than she initially thought and she slowly developed a strong bond with him throughout their many adventures together.

Present (Cartoon Universe): Alongside Foxy, Freezy spends half her time at Pirate's Cove entertaining partygoers just like the rest of the Fazbear band and the other half of her time sailing the seas in search of adventure. She and Foxy are in a loving relationship and rarely leave each others side, especially on the ship. Freezy still refuses to partake in any illegal pirate activities, but she's more than happy to assist Foxy with exploration and discovery. Whenever they're docked at pirate's cove and ready to entertain, Freezy usually performs in Foxy's variety show, sings additional backup for the main band, or sells frozen treats such as popsicles or snow cones. Freezu still writes postcards and/or letters to her family nightly.

Backstory (FNAF Universe):

Farley "Sir Fantasma" Hyland was a Freddy Fazbear's Pizza franchisee in charge of the Orlando, Florida location. He called himself Sir Fantasma because he took a lot of pride in how he made his location particularly fun. With a larger building and cooler arcade than any Freddy Fazbear's before that point, the Orlando location was legendary and a must-see destination for any families on vacation. Farley had commissioned a few minor animatronics from Henry over the years to add to his location's spectacle, but his most beloved animatronic was a major addition to his cast; because the Orlando Pirate's Cove was much larger than other renditions of Pirate's Cove, Foxy looked especially lonely on his stage compared to the decked out main stage. So Farley worked with Henry to come up with a new character to acompany Foxy in Pirate's cove. The initial idea was to just give him a crewmate, but that soon evolved into giving Foxy a love interest that he could share his cove with. Farley wrote and designed much of Freezy's character while Henry used his skills to translate that design into a functioning animatronic with a special feature.

Freezy's gimmick was a simple, but effective addition to the Orlando location: she stood beside Foxy on his stage, but right at the base of the stage was a low freezer shaped like a treasure chest. This treasure chest contained pre-packaged ice cream treats such as ice cream cookies and popsicles. Customers could unlock the "treasure chest" by depositing a small, special key. Once the key was deposited, the customer could take one frozen treat (if any greedy kids took more than one, Freezy would call them out and their parents' card was automatically charged for another ice cream). Ice cream keys could be purchased on their own for a low price, but every kids meal combo came with one by default. Freezy herself performed alongside Foxy, acting as both his loving girlfriend and his foil. Freezy's ice cream treats soon became the best part of many kids' visits to the Orlando location and she quickly became a local fan favorite.

Soon, the word got out in the company about how popular Freezy was becoming as a character in Florida. Other locations in major areas started ordering their own Freezy animatronics to get a slice of the ice cream cake (her real clothes and her freezer made her more expensive than other animatronics, so only rich locations bothered adding her). The word of Freezy spread even further and she became somewhat of a legend throughout the US schoolyards; if you were a kid and your local Freddy Fazbear's had Freezy, that's how you knew you were cooler (pun intended) than everyone else. Merchandise of her started to spread even to locations that didn't feature her. She was only rising in popularity to the point where Fazbear Entertainment accepted Farley's pitch to direct a staight-to-VHS movie starring Freezy and Foxy. The original Hurricane, Utah location even started teasing getting their own Freezy in soon.

Then it was all came crashing down because of one man: Mitchell O'Hare. This franchisee of the St Louis, Missori location had a different idea for his Pirate's Cove: instead of a small chest that kids could reach into, his location allowed kids to trade in their keys for a chance to walk into the walk-in freezer. This was supposedly for immersion and so employees could keep a better eye on the kids, but the slimy truth was that this was all a trap. Mitchell opened his location purely out of inspiration from William Afton's crimes. In secret, he was oddly obsessed with the idea of spreading Afton's influence and even trying to outdo him in the company. So he added Freezy and built the freezer specifically so that he could murder even more children and keep their bodies hidden away in there. One horrible day, he lured in one young girl and killed her inside that freezer. Fortunatly, her mother was quick to notice her sudden disappearance and Mitchell was caught red-handed by a concerned employee before he could get away with the crime or harm any more children. This devastating event became known as "The Freezy Incident" and it completely destroyed Freezy's reputation as a character.

Even though the Freezy incident was much less gruesome than the missing children's incident, it was spread much faster in the news and among parents. Soon, children everywhere were warned by their parents and kids alike not to go near Freezy. Fazbear Entertainment was already fed up with its less than stellar reputation, so they made the very fast decision to completely redact Freezy as a character. Every Pirate's Cove removed her, every Freezy animatronic was decommissioned, the movie and expansions were scrapped, all her unsold merchandise was taken off shelves and destroyed, and Fazbear Entertainment Inc never mentioned her ever again.

In spite of the company's efforts, Freezy herself was never forgotten by those that genuinely loved her as a character. Farley was heartbroken that the character he put so much love and artistry into was ruined by a monster in the company. He finally understood Henry's meloncholy to a much fuller extent and grew closer to him in the fallout of the incident. In 2011, Farley passed away from cancer, but leading up to his death he always found happiness in responding to questions in internet forums about his location, Fazbear Entertainment overall, or his beloved Freezy.

Then, sometime in the late 2010s, a sudden resurgance of popularity came to Freezy's character. It all started with a lost media hunt in search of the incomplete Freezy/Foxy film. One dedicated, nostalgic fan with a special interest in Freezy took charge and contacted Farley Hyland's niece. Together, they recovered, archived, and uploaded everything they could uncover, including the entire script, most of the voice lines, and the storyboards of the cancelled film. These discoveries only further ignited Freezy's fans who wanted her back alongside the other animatronics now that Fazbear Entertainment LLC was rebooting the entire brand. Eventually, the company gave in and revived her by teasing new glamrock versions of her and Foxy for the Pizzaplex.

Present (FNAF Universe): The original Freezy is now fondly remembered as a fan favorite character with some of the most expensive collector's items of any classic animatronic due to her short time in the spotlight. Freezy's animatronics are all still decomissioned, but her torch has been passed down to her modern replacement Glamrock Freezy.

Mr and Mrs Arctic Fox ^[parents]

Like any super loving parents, Freezy's mother and father worried a lot about their daughter's safety and were hesitant at first to let her spread her wings. In the end, they let her go on her adventures thanks to Aunt Arctica's persuasion, but only if Freezy promised to keep them updated whenever possible. Freezy loves them dearly and gets homesick whenever she thinks of them.

Aunt Arctica ^[aunt]

Arctica is the current owner of the family fish shop and somewhat of a local hero, always willing to get her claws out if something were to threaten Isfjell Village. She taught Freezy most of her skills, yet is also the most supportive of her leaving the village for her own adventure. Women want her and fish fear her.

💕 Romance 💋

Foxy ^[boyfriend]

Freezy first met Foxy when his latest treasure hunt lead him to the same island Freezy happened to be stranded on. She exclaimed in glee that she was finally saved...only for him to immediately run past her and start digging in the sand for the loot he was looking for. This gave Freezy a very negative first impression of Foxy as one of THOSE pirates that cares for money and nothing else. He didn't deny her assumption, but he did offer her a place on his ship if she had nowhere else to go. Freezy didn't want to associate herself with someone so greedy, but her only options were to board his ship or try surviving on the deserted island for even longer. She chose the former and moved into Foxy's ship.

Their relationship steadily improved once they actually started sailing together. There was nobody else on the ship (besides Foxy's pet bird Pickles), so they ended up talking a lot with each other to pass the time. Freezy summarized where she came from and how she got on that island. She also revealed her true nature as a pirate who just liked sailing and hated thievery which sent Foxy into a lot of laughter. Her initial suspicions of him were correct when he explained his past as a pizza stealing pirate of all things, but Foxy also talked a lot about his beloved friends back on land and his fellow fox crewmates that were busy running Pirate's Cove back home. Freezy still didn't trust him yet, but she didn't hate him either. Her feelings were...mixed for the time being.

Foxy didn't want Freezy to feel stuck on his ship, so he sailed back home as fast as possible to let Freezy explore the town he lived in. She was pleasently surprised by how kind and welcoming Foxy's bandmates were; they were happy to show her around and threw a party on the spot to REALLY introduce her to everyone. Seeing how close these friendly folks were with Foxy, Freezy felt like she was finally free to let her guard down. Near the end of the night, everyone was having a great time dancing while Foxy stood on the sidelines and watched. Freezy walked over to him, took her paw in hers, and led him to the dance floor so they could dance with everyone else. This was the moment Foxy developed his crush on her.

After Freezy's welcoming party, she started hanging out with Foxy's friends reguarly and even joined the Pirate's Cove performers. When she wasn't perfoming at the cove, she was going on adventures with Foxy who she now considered a friend of hers. They were growing closer and closer, but Foxy worried that a friend was all she would ever see him as. His crush should have been obvious; Foxy was weirdly shy and constantly nervous around her following their dance. Yet despite him being constantly flustered, Freezy just brushed it off as Foxy being the reclusive that like Freddy described him as. Foxy wanted to ask her out already, but he just couldn't bring himself to.

The truth finally came out one evening out on the sea when Foxy decided he HAD to let her know. During a conversation with Freezy at sunset, Foxy started his confession with some vague buildup...only for him to get so nervous that he threw up over the ship's side. Freezy assumed Foxy had some horrible illness at first since any experienced pirate should be over their sea sickness. That's when Pickles spilled the beans by mimicking what Foxy planned on saying to her. She was shocked from the confession, but liked Foxy so much at this point that she decided to give love with him a chance. They've always been by each others side ever since.

Chica ^{[best friend]}

Whenever Freezy's back on land, Chica's who she hangs out with the most. After all, who doesn't love some girl to girl talk? They often talk over some good food, usually breakfast or pizza, about whatever the other missed while Freezy was out exploring. Chica's a diehard homegirl at heart, so she's always more than happy to tell Freezy fun facts or secrets about their little town. This also makes her very fascinated with Freezy's adventures and her home village way out in Norway.  Chica also gives Freezy a lot of romance advice...which is always absurdly good considering that Chica hasn't had a romantic relationship of her own (yet). Freezy's far more open to exploration and trying new things than Chica, but that only makes getting Chica to step outside her box far more fun for both of them in the end.

Mangle ^[crewmate]

Mangle is Freezy's other closest friend and a beloved crewmate to her. When they first met, Mangle instinctively screeched towards Freezy for accidentally getting too close. But after many journeys overseas together, Mangle has grown more and more comfortable with Freezy to the point where they hug each other very often. Mangle prioritizes loyalty over all else and always wants to protect Freezy from anything they perceive as being harmful. Freezy got this far with Mangle by always being gentle and understanding with them, making sure they felt safe over anything else and respecting Mangle's many boundries.

Funtime Foxy ^[crewmate]

Funtime Foxy rarely goes on actual pirate adventures, but he's always down to perform and party back at Pirate's Cove. He thinks of Freezy as especially fun compared to his reclusive costars and hopes that her energy will rub off on Foxy and Mangle. Freezy has a lot of chemistry with Funtime Foxy, but she also has a lot of banter with him whenever his diva side comes out. Funtime Foxy also looooves teasing Freezy and Foxy about their romantic relationship, espeeecially before they actually got together.

Freddy

Being the leader that he is, Freddy was the first to welcome Freezy to their little town. The town rarely gets visitors that aren't families looking for some entertainment, so he prioritized making Freezy as comfortable there as he could. At the party, he even gave her some insight on Foxy that helped her trust him: yes, Foxy used to be a thief that caused quite a lot of trouble for their pizza parties, but he actually turned out to be quite the shy guy once Freddy cornered him and offered him a slice as a gift. Freezy knows that she and Foxy wouldn't be where they are without Freddy's help, so she appreciates him a lot.

Bonnie

Freezy rarely talks one-on-one with Bonnie, but whenever they do, Bonnie serves as a reminder that she's always welcome to loosen up and take it easy if she needs. They don't agree with a lot of things, but Bonnie believes that her blossoming love with Foxy will help her reach a deeper understanding of why not all thieves are bad. On the other hand, he respects her for having so much integrity and never being afraid to stand up for what she thinks is right. Bonnie also happens to be Foxy's best friend and roommate whenever he's back in town, so he further helps Freezy understand him and has given Foxy a lot of romantic advice that pushed him into (an attempty at) confessing to her. He even helps Foxy find the confidence to serenade her and has played music in the background of a few of their dates.

Behind-the-Scenes History:

Way back in 2014 or 2015, I made my first FNAF OC: a blue fox named Frosty who shared the stage with Foxy. He had Freezy's same ice chest gimmick, but was originally male, had a bland personality, and had no romantic involvement with Foxy. However, this OC only lasted for one piece of art and one Pic Collage post due to my lack of confidence in my art at the time and the rise of cringe culture making me terrified to post about FNAF anymore. For the next 8/9 years, Frosty simply...did not exist.

By the 2020s, cringe culture was considered dead and FNAF was considered cool again! So in the summer of 2023, I finally gave into my intermost fanfiction desires and revived Frosty as Freezy because I think female characters are way more fun to design. I also caved in and shipped her with Foxy because why the heck not? Much like Phone Guy, he IS my favorite animatronic. To make their dynamic fun to write, I gave Freezy a very polar opposite personality to Foxy while giving them a mutual interest in sailing, adventure, and entertainment. All I had to do was write some lore contextualizing Freezy's existence as a lost character in the FNAF game universe and boom, my first fully fleshed out FNAF OC was born.

🎈 Fun Facts 🎉

• A large reason why Farley Hyland wanted to make Freezy and Foxy a couple was because he lost his own longtime boyfriend in 1982 and liked writing cheesy romance stories as a form of comfort
• "The Freezy Incident" is referred to as "The St. Louis Incident" by fans who REALLY wanted Freezy back and didn't want to associate her name with the tragedy
• The two most important Freezy animatronics (Orlando & St. Louis) are both the only two Freezy animatronics not completely torn apart and the only Freezy animatronics that had remnant
  • The original Orlando Freezy has only a slight amount from all the love and comfort Farley put into her during development. She isn't sentient or posessed, but she does have more lifelike qualities than other animatronics like being able to respond to the emotions of Farley's niece with the most fitting pre-recorded voiceline she can use. Her level of sentience can best be compared to a venus flytrap: she can respond to stimuli as if she were alive, but she has no will or thoughts.
  • The St. Louis Freezy was saturated in remnant and posessed by the girl Mitchell O'Hare murdered. Her upset spirit was trapped for many years until Farley's niece and her friend soothed her soul and set her free.
• In my Forest Friends AU (which is basically "what if FNAF World was more like Animal Crossing?") Freezy is in a poly relationship with both Foxy and Mangle; she's in a monogamous relationship with Foxy in canon because I don't think a children's entertainment company in the 1980s would be open to writing a polycule.
  • For a similar reason, Freezy's orientation is simply left as "unspecified;" in AUs where she's not a metafictional cartoon character controlled by a corporation, Freezy is bisexual and open to polyamory
• While toy, nightmare, funtime, and rockstar versions of Freezy don't exist in canon, I'm open to designing non-canon "what if" versions
• Foxy and Freezy don't have children in canon because they aren't depicted as a married couple, but Farley has drawn what he thinks their kits would be like. They consist of an older brother who likes mermaids (named Sandy) and a younger sister who dreams of being a pilot (named Shelly).
  • Sandy and Shelly are actually canon in AUs where Freezy isn't just a metafictional character
  • In the Forest Friends AU, they have a brother named Winter (son of Mangle and Freezy) and a sister named Summer (daughter of Mangle and Foxy)
