MAVI REEFSEEKER
If they paid me any less I'd never smile at a customer again.
After moving into Inkopolis Mavi found it hard to talk to people. She got by fine and made friends but ended up a rather quitet and undriven person. She mostly spends her time working or hanging out with her friends, but she has no grand ambition in life.

Mavi is a quiet inkling, not necessairly meek, but not usually the one to start any fights. She's never one to yell along with a crowd or run to be first in line. She prefers her quiet evenings with a book or movie, over loud events anyway. She's not prone to spontainous action, but that doesn't mean she's a slouch when something unexpected happens. Despite heavy use of dry humor and blank stares, she holds her own in conversation. She seems simple on the surface, but those who know her well know she's a deeply caring person who will fight for her friends if they need her.
Mavi had training for turf battles since she was young, so she's highly ranked across the board. She prefers to fight with a brella, she makes excellent use of it's shield, but she knows how to use most weapons at least passingly.
Outside of turf she keeps up a simple life, she keeps a daily regiment of tasks to do. Workouts, chores, work shifts, turf battles, it's usually planned out in advance what her day is going to look like. (NOTE: regimented, not scheduled. There's no "be done with lunch by 12:15" notes, it's typically just the tasks for the day and the order to do them in, with things like what she's having for lunch written into their proper spot.
She works in a Squid Sister's themed tourist trap, a job that pays surprisingly well for what it is. Her time here has granted her an almost encyclopedic knowledge of the Squid Sister's music, and the appropriate amount of disdain for theis music having been forced to learn all that.
Mavi has a bit of a temper. Her initial tolerance is high, but if something manages to break it, her hesitations that typically hold her back are forgotten as she gets louder and more agressive.

To most people, Mavi is not a loud person. Her reactions are small, her actions deliberate, she doesn't put too much out into the world in general. By no means is she incompetent, she's got a quick wit and if you're close to her (or push her too far) you'll be quick to feel the weight of her words.
TO FRIENDS: RELIABLE • COMPASIONATE • FUNNY
Her friends get to see through the measured exterior. They find a reliable, steady friend who always has her ears and heart open for those who need it. Mavi doesn't often outwardly express her love for her friends, but always tells them through action. She's the shoulder to cry on and the buddy to invite to the bar. She'll see everyone makes it home safe and then chastise you for being stupid when you wake up the next day.
TO FAMILY: LOYAL • CARING • CONSISTANT
Those close enough to see Mavi as family know the depth of the care she has for them. She's helped these people at their lowest, and they've helped her in turn. She's always there for them, circumstances be damned. Her actions go a step further for these people, more than seeing them home she'll see them to bed, more than going for drinks, she'll order their favorites and surprise them with it, more than a stern talking to, she'll rant and yell and scream at them to be safe and take care of themselves. She doesn't often say that she cares for those people, but they know.
Backstory
Mavi's father was a retired turf pro. She grew up listening to stories of his time in the pro league. Her mother was pretty hands off, something her father did his best to make up for. She idolized him.
Tiara randomly showed up at her house one day, when Mavi was about 7. The two ran off to play while the adults argued downstairs. Her dad started running her through basic turf war training, and she loved it.
The duo meets Queen not long after while playing outside one day. On the days when Tiara is left at her house, the three would often hang out and play. They never played at Mavi's house, her mom didn't like Queen, and the trio just didn't want to deal with that.
Mavi's mom leaves when she's 10. Mavi is sad about this, but the two weren't particularly close, so it doesn't keep her down for long. With her mom gone, her friends often visited her house.
Eventually, Tiara is left at the Reefseeker's permanently, alongside the reveal that Tiara is Mavi's half sister (They share a dad).
Her dad fell ill when she was 13, she did not take it well. She takes it worse when he dies a month later. She falls into a haze, barely present as she moves through her life.
Her mom returns, and with it the partial isolation and neglect. Tiara does her best to help Mavi and Queen, but she's sturggling with her own issues during this time.
She only snaps out of this haze almost 5 years, when her mom breaks Tiara's hand. Mavi and Queen get her to a hospital where her hand is set. There, the three vow to get out of their current awful situation.
The next month they spend preparing to move out on their own, and the day that Mavi turns 18 they do.
It takes some time for them to get settled into their new lives, but they're happier and better off for it.
- Overall Mavi's design very simple, with just a few key things to note.
- The basic traits that make her different from a human aren't unique to Mavi, but are a result of Splatoon's character design, and the design of Inklings as a whole.
- The biggest thing to note with Inkling characters is that they don't have hair, instead they have tentacles on their head that look similar, but are distinct. For all intents and purposes, they function like hair and hair styles, just with a different different outline shapes and texture.
- Each eye has a small black mask around it, with a line connecting them.
- Inkling's ears are pointed, similar to a fanstay elf's, and they point out from the side of their head.
- Mavi's tentacles (hair) are not symmetrical. The two that frame her face are different, one is smaller than the other.
- Her skin tone is a pale that has had a fair amount of time tanning. Not sit on the beach and tan for the summer level, but a work out in the sun several days a week tan.
- Mavi's build is thin, but muscular. She has little in the way of curves, but not nothing.

APPEARENCE
Tentacles: Mavi's tentacles transition from black to a dark purple. Her back two drape over her shoulders. Her front two rest on top of the back two, but the one on her left side is smaller and doesn't fade to purple.
Freckles: Her face has a slight dusting of freckles, concentrated mainly on the her cheeks and the bridge of her nose. They also run down her back and lightly on her arms.
Nose: Her nose is slightly raised. There are dents on it where her glasses have sat over many years.
Eyes: Mavi's eyes are a very bright blue. her eyelashes are short and she doesn't often use any makeup to accentuate them. Her eyebrows are rounded, and seem to default to a worried knit.
Mouth: Her mouth is a bit small, and her lips are a bit thin. Her teeth are white and stright, she wore braces for a few years to get them that way. Her genuine smiles are a bit rare, but they're full and bright when they appear.
Ears: Mavi's ears end at a point, and sit at a downwards angle.
Arms/Hands: Mavi's arms are a tad on the short side, but loaded with muscle. Her hands are a normal sized, but her fingers are a bit blocky.
Legs/Feet: Her legs pack the same muscles as her arms. They've got a few scars from cuts that never healed peoperly.

Overview: Mavi is a quiet squid. She'll tend to fade into the background of crowd if the's not doing anything. Until she gets in the moment, she comes across as meek, sometimes stuttering her words. She's capible of demanding attention and respect when she wants to. When she's serious or angry she does it automatically.
Emotions: Mavi's emotions always take a back seat to her thoughts. Rarely, if ever, does she let her emotions take control. Unless that emotion is anger or it's friends, as her temper tends to run hot.
Ego: Mavi has very little ego to speak of. Despite her acomplishments and progress soe doesn't dwell or talk about them often. Her confidence suffers as a result.
Aura: She tends to being an air of unsure worry with her, however it's easy dispelled if she gets involved with what's happening around her. If she's mad you can tell, but if she's MAD she's the strongest force in the room.
Work Ethic: Mavi tends to ping between "bare minumum" for things she has to do and "Make sure it's absolutely 100% done and perfect." for things she wants to. This occasionally causes problems if she spends too much time on her own things or doesn't put enough work into others.
CASUAL: A beige hoodie is her most common wear. In most weather she'll wear it, only dropping it on the hottest or coldest days. A plain color shirt, usually white, underneeth and some simple season appropriate pants. Her shoes are simple sneakers.

Due to her job at a Squid Sister's themed gift shop, her uniform is an unfortunate mess of bright green and bright pink. A tee shirt and pants coated in those colors, is enough for the uniform. She doesn't use the hat.

- Jacket: A beige zip-up jacket. It's not as heavy as a pull-over hoodie, but it has a bigh of weight to it. It is not transparent, being fully woven. There's two pockets she often rests her hands in.

Working Out: Mavi started working out with her dad when she was young. As a (at the time) pro turf player her had to keep in shape, and she often joined him to spend time with him. She keeps up a modified routine early every moring.
Editing: For a time when she was younger Mavi got incredibly interested in video production and editing, and learned a lot about it. In the years since she's lost a lot of her intitial interest in it, but she retains the skills she learned and occasionally still puts them to work.
Coloring: Sometimes it isn't the evening for a book. When that's the case Mavi will put on some music or a podcast and just start work on a coloring book. She mainly uses colored pencils, but she's used pastels, markers, and crayons before.
Glasses : Mavi tends to fidget with her glasses. Weather that be cleaning them or just messing with them, she'll mess with them more often that not. This likely stems from her not growing up using glasses, and thus not being completely used to them.
Glare: When she gets lost in thought her face will scrunch up slightly while she's thinking. That's fine, except it makes it look like she's glaring in whatever direction she happens to be looking at. It doesn't help her case at all that she tends to actively glare often as well, as a result people rarely know if she's staring them down intentionally or not.
Saving : Mavi tries to plan for the future, but takes some aspects to the extreme. She hardly spends the money she gets, buying mostly necessities and a rare indulgence, and putting the rest into savings.
WAY OF SPEAKING: Mavi tends to be pretty casual and easy going when talking to people, as long as you appreciate dry humor sprinkled in.

In general, Mavi sounds like the lacks any genuine confidence behind what she says. It's not that she lacks it, she just tends to be more reserved as a rule of thumb. Although, if you catch her in the moment, or really get her angry, she forgets her quiet tendencies and makes what she wants known. It's only after the fact that she realizes what she's done, usually to her great emberrasment. She also has a customer service mode always lurking in the background of her mind, thanks to her time at work.

- The nickname Mavi is a portmanteau of her full name, Mariana, and baby. "Mariana baby" --> "May-by" --> "Mavi". She prefers to go by Mavi because her full name sounds to similar to two very popular idols.
- She didn't realize she needed glasses until she lived on her own. She's used to them for the most part, but they still bug her sometimes.
- The first group she ever saw live was Off the Hook during a Splatfest performance. She wasn't even there for the splatfest she just wanted to get some tea in a place near the square and got swept into a crowd.
- Mavi doesn't hate the Squid Sisters, despite what you might think. She's just so throughly surrounded by them at her job that any novelty to be found in their music died before her training ended.
- Mavi is in the top 2000 ranked players (for her region), despite only really playing often enough to maintain that position. She has the training and experience to go pro thanks to her father, she just doesn't want to.
- Her least favorite weapons are the ones that lack range. Rollers, Brushes, some dualies and some blasters are on her no-go list.
- The beige jacket isn't about fashion, insecurity or anything like that. It's just that it's really comfy, and a neutral piece of cloating.
QUICK ON HER FEET: Mavi thinks quite well on the spot, be it dealing with crowds or on-the-fly turf strategies. She isn't fully aware of her capibilities, and does her best not to rely on in-the-moment thinking as much as she can.
DEDICATED: Anything she sets herself to do she'll see through to the end.
ORGANIZED: Mavi takes careful steps to keep her spaces organized. Paperwork filed away, bookshelves clean, and she keeps a dedicated daily planner.
STUBBORN: When she decides something's being done in a specific way, or she wants to do a specific thing, it's very hard to disuade her.
VOLUME: She's usually pretty quiet, not meek, but not loud enough to be heard in a busy intersection. On the flip side, when she's mad, she's by far the loudest one in a room. This isn't intentional, and when she thinks back to the moment she nearly falls over in emberrasment.
FOLLOWER: On average, Mavi doesn't take risks. She follows the crowd or her friend's plans, rarely does she start things on her own.

REST IS NECESSARY: Having a time to do non-strenous tasks is vital to one's health. Everyone deserves this time as often as they need it.
VOILENCE IS A UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE: Some people just will not listen or even try to understand others around them. These people will never cooperate or stop hurting other people. The only way you get these people to understand they can't do things is violence.

HER LIFE WILL GO ANYWHERE: She doesn't have any grand plans or ambitions, she has a place to live, her own income, money saved away, and hobbies. Part of her wants for more, but she doesn't think she'll ever get it, and as such has resigned herself to being ok with what she has now.
SHE IS MORE THAN AVERAGE AT THINGS: Despite her high Turf ranking and priase from her friends, Mavi doesn't feel like she's more than average at anything she does. She consistantly sells herself short and undervalues her contributions to anything she takes part in.
SHE'S A GOOD SISTER: Mavi is still bothered by her past, more specifically her relation with Tiara. While, ultimately she did get her out, she still shoulders a lot of guilt for what Tiara had to endure.
LIVE: Mavi is not a complicated person. She doesn't have any lofty goals or a major drive. At most, she wants to live, rather than just survive. Part of her longs for more, wants something bigger, and better. However, she's accepted that where she is now is OK, and she doesn't want to push any further.

MOCKERY: Mavi is afraid of being mocked. Her self image has recovered a fair amount from her past, but its foundations are still shakey. Any sufficently accurate or brutal instults can tear her down again.

ATTENTION: Mavi does not like being the center of attention. The pressure it puts on her can lead to a nervous break, but she's had enough experience that she can manage it with preperation or adrenaline.
