Profile

Dragons are a species of reptiles endemic to the continent of Arnua. They are the dominant species of their continent, having developed culture, civilization and hierarchy.

Common traits

Dragons have scaly skin covered in fur, wich can vary in lenght depending on the kin. They shed fur and moult at the start of spring (or "Blooming Season"),

Dragons are sexually dymorphic, meaning they have different features depending on the gender: afab dragons have completely feathered wings while amab dragon's primaries are webbed, if clipped they don't grow back. Amab dragons' webbed primaries are usually very colorful, this trait is probably reminescent of evolution since it could have been used to attract mates, however it is now completely useless since couples are formed trough bonding or are arranged. Like many other animals, amab dragon's horns are longer and sturdier than afab's, this is also reminescent of evolution

Arnua dragons are divided in different varieties called "kins", but they all share some common features like long necks, tails and 6 limbs in total (counting the wings) with prehensible front "paws" and small scaly hands on their wings, like dromaeosaur palms. Their rear paws are similar to feline or canine paws.

Culture and beliefs

Each kind has it's own culture and they usually do not intertwine, although there is a common belief among every group of dragons and that's the the Spirit Domain.

While dragons do not believe in any deity or supreme being, some do believe in a life after death. This afterlife would take place in the so called "Spirit Domain", which is described as an exact copy of Arnua, except it lacks any type of structure, like houses or cities and those who claim to have seen it say the sky is a "constant flow of lights".

It's unclear if the Spirit Domain is the only astral plain in the univers of Arnua, however none claims to have ever seen the spirits of dragons considered "evil" in it
