Dragon kins (Reef kin)

Also commonly called "Waterfowl" by the other kins, they're believed to be a "subspecies" of the Prairie kin that has adapted to a semi-aquatic lifestyle. Their feathers are waterproof and their fur is usually very short. Their wings are shaped like seabird's: they can be folded into "paddles" and are built for long-distance flights. They have powerful tails and limbs which makes them the best swimmers. 

Reef dragons live in colonies all over the coasts of the prarie kingdom. These colonies are ruled by a chief who is chosen by the citizens and who responds to the Royal Family of the Prarie Kingdom as both Prarie and Reef dragons share the same monarchs. 

Reef cubs learn to swim before they can fly, their parents bring them to large bodies of water, initially carrying them on their backs, then gradually teaching them to swim.
