Personality: Outwardly aloof at first glance-- (often perceived as reserved by his own people and downright icy by anyone else) --Chancellor is everything a lord of his caliber should be; stately, commanding, and readily able to break the face of anyone who challenges him. His unyielding exterior in formal situations belies a kind heart, however; like any good lord, he cares intimately about the well-being of his knights, and keeping his people safe and allowing them to thrive brings him the greatest satisfaction. He has a not-secret soft spot for young children, and dotes on his descendants endlessly; often eager to take on the role of babysitter and teacher when his duties as Halcyon allow for the time. When it doesn't, he's busy with his work; (defending the realm from threats, training with his best warriors, consulting with his court of lords to ensure all things are running as they should be... Sometimes Chancellor is a very busy man, but he tries to make time for himself and not work himself into the ground. He tries. Some days... he is very tired.)
While attempts are always made to be polite, a less-acknowledged trait of his is his ability to snark someone in such a way that it's still almost polite; a skill only utilized when someone has (unwisely) been needling him for an extended period of time, and generally greatly enjoyed by any witnesses, though he'll deny knowledge of such things. A gentleman would never.
At the end of the day, Chancellor would really just like to be quiet and enjoy the company of those he cares for most, as well as a cup of tea.
But Stars have mercy on your soul if you raise a hand to anyone he holds dear. He is the highest of warlords for a reason, and won't tolerate even the vaguest threat against his own. So much as a cruel word against any of his (grand)children and you will find yourself cast out of his good graces for the foreseeable centuries ahead. Not where you want to be.
