Soul Colors

Soul colors vary and can be any hue of the rainbow. Soul color dictates a character’s magic, as well as the color of their blood, tears, and pupils. Each Soul color comes with an elemental power and a generalized “school” of magic. Should a color fall between two (such as turquoise), their powers will take the shape of one or the other (green or blue). The colors as as follows:

Red: Blood and Conjuration

Orange: All elements - Elemental

Yellow: Fire and Enchantment

Green: Nature and Transmutation

Blue: Water and Restoration

Indigo: Wind and Illusion

Purple: Ice and Abjuration

Pink: Plasma and Divination

Rare, powerful soul colors, black and white, exist as well, though the circumstances in which these appear are unknown.

Black: Shadow and Invocation

White: Light and Purification

For further reference on what the schools are and what they do:

Conjuration: Spells that will bring an item, creature, or condition into existence. IE Summoning, manifestation

Elemental:  Spells that utilize the elements in order to achieve the desired effects. IE Flame manipulation, plant growth

Enchantment: Spells that imbue an existing item with magic. IE a fire sword, a healing locket

Transmutation: Spells that alter the physical or conditional properties of an item, creature, or thing. IE Shapeshifting, stat buffs

Restoration: Spells that heal or restore a person or object back to a previous state. IE Healing, mending broken objects

Illusion: Spells that cause an object, creature, or thing to be wrongfully perceived or interpreted. IE Invisibility, false landscapes

Abjuration: Spells that are used for protection or are beneficial in suppressing the magic of others. IE Barriers, effect negation

Divination: Spells that allow the caster the predict the future, uncover hidden knowledge and objects, and know beyond the obvious. IE Insight, locating spells

Invocation: Spells that invoke unwanted mental changes or new abilities within a creature, object, or condition. IE Curses, corruption

Purification: Spells that negate effects that have been set by magic on an object, creature, or thing. IE Curse lifting, spell removing

Soul colors are usually inherited from parents and can be a mixture of two colors or the same color as either of their parents. Souls do not and cannot change color, with one exception;

Gold Souls are different from the rest of the colors. Gold Souls are highly sought after and those who possess them are treated with luxury and fame. They are known to possess multiple elements and schools at one time. To the general populous it is unknown what causes a normal Soul to become gold. In reality, Gold Souls are achieved by taking the souls of others into your own by consuming them. The amount differs widely from person to person. Upon becoming a Gold Soul a creature will gain something on their body pertaining to their original soul color, such as ice shards for purple’s ice or wings for green’s transmutation, and a bit of a random visual update if desired design-wise..

As a Gold Soul, when consuming a soul, the abilities of the soul taken in are granted to the consumer. Over time the abilities will weaken and fade as the soul is “digested”. This lasts for about two weeks before the powers vanish altogether, and another new soul must be consumed. If consuming a normal soul as a normal soul, these powers will not transfer over.

If enough new souls are not consumed by a Gold Soul and disease known as Soul Rot will begin to make itself apparent.

Soul Rot

—Who said this quote or when this quote was said

Soul Rot is a serious disease that affects Gold Souls who have not consumed enough new souls. The afflicted will begin to develop void-black spots on themselves that will gradually grow larger in size until they overtake the entire body, at which point the diseased party loses opacity and tangibility until they cease to exist altogether. Doubly so, as the cognition worsens the sufferer will begin to lose their sense of self. Full effect takes no more than a year to complete. The only known cure is to consume more souls. Soul rot can, however, be slowed by the use of many restoration spells or a purification spell.

A normal soul consuming a Gold soul will temporarily give that normal soul the powers the Gold Soul currently had, but this effect will eventually wear off.

The Soul Giver

Souls don’t come from nowhere. Instead they are gifted from a godly figure simply dubbed The Soul Giver.

The Pinnacle

The Pinnacle is a tall, spire-like cathedral castle situated atop a mountain. Most Gold Souls make their home here, and all Gold Souls are invited within the walls. Normal souls are forbidden from living in The Pinnacle if they are not live-in staff, but they are more than welcome to visit. Gold Souls call The Pinnacle home live in luxury, being waited on paw and claw for whatever they may need by the large amount of staff. The staff are not treated cruelly and are given nice places to rest and plenty of time off should they need it.

Guards are often employed by The Pinnacle to keep things orderly. They are treated particularly well and see quite a lot of the same benefits the Gold Souls do, though to a lesser extent.

The Council is a governmental circle that makes the decisions for the city and the populace. It is made up of high-ranking and knowledgeable Gold Souls. The council members live in the most lavish and highest part of The Pinnacle, but it is not unlike them to mingle within the lower reaches, or even the city itself in some cases.

The City

Below The Pinnacle and tucked into a mountain side the city lies peacefully. The city sports a fantasy-esque style of architecture with plenty of stairs, ramps, and flat terraces. A river runs through the center, cascading down the mountain side and providing a clean source of drinking water to the city’s inhabitants. If you’ve ever played Skyrim, think Markarth, just not as carved into the stone.

The Gate lies at the outskirts of a city. It is an old, broken and upright circular feature made out of stone.
