In life each animal is gifted with a soul from a godly being. These souls come in many different colors, and each hue decides which type of magic belongs to the user. The rarest colors of all, gold, is held in high esteem. Those that come to possess them are given riches beyond their wildest dreams and a place in the chapel high above the lower city full of felines. Four of these citizens come to hold gold souls of their own, though it doesn't come without the realization that to become a golden soul you must consume those of others. We follow Blame, a tom who despises himself and believes a golden soul will give him the self-confidence he craves. Quota, a snowshoe who wants desperately to keep the legacy of her loved ones alive. Fault, who desires riches beyond imagination. And Clique, who is simply doing as she is told. Each of them follows their own path, but one question remains above all else; does God have a soul? If they do, will you devour it?
