As a reaper, Akari hasn't been the most successful at their job. She is clumsy and often gets into trouble. Because of this, she finally commits an error so unignorable that they have to do something about it.
As punishment, and perhaps to help her become better at what she does, she's put into a partnership with a fellow reaper, a woman named Seiko. Seiko refuses to divulge why she is in trouble, and Akari feels no compulsion to ask.
The two of them are different as can be, and struggle to get along at first, though Seiko seems hell-bent on keeping maximal contact between them at all times.
The higher-ups provide them with an apartment together, which only forces them to spend more time together. Akari just wants to run away but knows that she can't.

Akari is pretty gloomy and they don't like being around people a lot. She has spent most of her time as a reaper in complete solitude, and they really don't like being put together with Seiko.
She's very introspective and tends to think about things a lot, though they rarely put it into words and instead keep to themselves. They don't like how overly familiar Seiko is.

The woman who was assigned to be Akari's partner after they both get in trouble. Akari is very weirded out when Seiko refuses to speak in any way about why exactly she's in trouble.
Akari isn't much for being open either, but they do at least volunteer the fact of their clumsy disposition that has gotten them into trouble with the higher-ups. On the flip side, the seemingly open book that Seiko pretends to be seems like a facade, where she never actually divulges any real info about herself.
- Akari isn't a huge fan of being perceived, and as such you'll find her wearing some kind of hood almost all the time. She also wears hoodies for practical reasons - they're comfortable, easy to move in, and easy to wash.
- She wears either biker shorts or leggings underneath her hoodies, for the same reason. Biker shorts for hotter months, leggings for colder months.
- It's rare you'll find them with anything less than 3 injuries somewhere on their body; hands, arms, legs, nothing is safe. She is incredibly clumsy.
- Her reaper weapon is a square-shaped claymore. It has veins of mana running through it, and takes a lot of strength to commandeer.
