Profile

Personality:

Olive is an easy-going, carefree individual who can be extremely slow on the uptake. He can be easily deceived and often finds himself in awkward situations, but thanks to his brother, he usually doesn't have to worry for long. Olive cares deeply for his brother, and praises him for his hard work on the daily.

In truth, however, Olive has extremely low self-esteem, and believes his own existence to be a mistake. He doesn't understand why his father chooses him over Allium, nor how anyone can like him. Almost everything about himself is built up from habits he's witnessed from others. Even the inventions that Allium claims are Olive's own are actually copies of preexisting works with a tweak here and there, and are not works of his own making - having nothing to call his own, Olive constantly hides how truly aimless they are.

Therefore, when Allium passes on, Olive has NO IDEA what to do at the time. He's always been 'the brother of the much better Allium', always looked up to him for everything. Olive was sure he could survive this twisted game with him at his side, hell, he was willing to kill for his brother if he had to - but without Allium, Olive can't find any reason to keep on going himself. A renewed sense of self-esteem is found and slowly built up as he reflect on his brother's actions - and with the help of his friends, Olive is able to bounce back.

Background:

Olive is one of the two members of the Remoulade family. For the longest time, Olive believed that Allium would take the fortune - he was the oldest, and the more capable one, right? So when he learns that this is not the case, Olive is...shocked, to say the least. Why him? Why? And how?

Further confusion is brought when he overhears his father negotiating with a company, one that tries to sway him to fund them in order to continue their studies with Identity. It's something that he's never heard him or Allium talk about, but given the hushed tone, Olive fears that he's overheard something he shouldn't. He steps on eggshells, only confiding this secret to a recent friend, Cassidy, who isn't sure what to make of it either. When Olive doesn't hear of it again, they let the fact slip to the back of his mind, hoping it was nothing to worry about.

But one day, Olive finds himself suddenly in a killing game, not unlike that of DRcade. His brother is there, which gives Olive relief at first, which is then cut short when his brother attempts to murder him. Olive, seeing this as Allium's way out, and agreeing with Allium's view on Olive, he braces for death - only for Isabelle to save Olive in the nick of time. Olive, unsure how to take this fact at first, is further confused when he notices that, in order to save Olive, Allium was killed...

In a panic, Olive flees the scene. He eventually returns to speak in the trial, and through the conflict that follows, Olive eventually decides that only Isabelle is worth escaping the game before rushing off once more - after all, why were they being so mean to her? She saved someone's life, didn't she? Why was everyone so upset at her, when they should be upset at them and them alone?

As Olive tries to wrangle with these events, they spend more and more time in their room, the final words of their brother echoing in their mind. They wonder what to do next, and what could someone like them do, and therefore do an awful job taking care of themself in the process. Therefore, when they pass out on the morning of day 3, that was to be expected, right? They hadn't eaten. They hardly slept on day 1. But as they soon come to find, there would be more to these incidents than they would ever imagine. To have another person take their place, to have no one realize until Olive had pointed out that they knew nothing of Cordelia's crimes?

Though at first scared and hurt that no one knew, he turns around when he learns that his 'imposter' is actually someone he met some time ago, and had took his place brief for innocent reasons. And, as he thinks back to what he's overheard from his father, Olive decides that it's his responsibility to understand not only them, but why they were created to begin with. This ends up not only helping Olive understand his family's motivations, but renews his friendship with Solstice - something that Solstice never thought would be possible.

By the end of OFFLINE, Olive learns that while his father was unaware of some of the more dubious investments going on behind his back, he still had made investments towards Solstice's creation - something that Olive has to wrangle the knowledge of. On top of that, when Olive learns about the Usagi Corporation's lesser known version of the watches? That too is something he learns he has to take responsibility for, even though he has no idea where to begin with that.

Other Info:

  • Ollie is an avid World Flipper fan, and can recognize (most) characters at a glance. He has a soft spot for Ryunon in particular - namely because this was the character Solstice was cosplaying at an event that the two of them went to.
  • Olive's heterochromia is natural, having one red and one blue eye.
  • Even though Olive enjoys cosplay, he's terrible at cosplay himself, and generally needs help if he's to get anywhere with dressing up as a character and looking the part.
Olive's talent was used heavily by Allium prior to his death, namely his knack of replicating anything that is given to them. As such, Olive is the reason why so many of the watches built by the shadier side of the Usagi Corporation are in circulation. Though Olive knows that he has made these watches, he is not aware that they were for Usagi or what their function was. By the end of OFFLINE, Olive has begun to question this, and decides to investigate in order to try and understand this truth.
