Born in New Zealand, Jonah Henare is the first born child to Makoa Henare and Layla Henare and eldest brother to his sister Sina Henare. Jonah has always been a cheerful boy with a insatiable desire to learn; He has a remarkably intelligent and athletic soul that always admired fine arts and martial arts. 

Jonah is naturally good with children, so he was often babysitting his sister, spending the days with her by streaming video games, eating junk food, creating art and listening to popular American music. They were inseparable, at least until she was kidnapped by the Shadaloo for reasons still unknown to him. Although still a child himself at the time, Jonah faults himself for not being strong enough to protect her. He'd lost his best friend. He found comfort in quiet times by refocusing his attention to his athletics, academic studies, and fighting. 

After graduating college early, Jonah moved out of the country to train under contractor and legendary fighter Luke Sullivan at his gym in Metro City in search of strength, and a fresh start. He quickly bonded with his Martial Arts instructor and took a quick liking fellow trainees Bosch and Evangelos.  He did not foresee himself learning about Ninja culture while in Metro City, but after a run in with uninvited Bushinryu kunoichi Kimberly Jackson, his time training under her and Luke in Metro City has made him rethink what it takes, and what it means to be strong.

What is strength? Jonah may not have the answer yet. However, he is equipped with boundless amount of energy, a warrior's spirit, and a loyal heart that beats of art, music, and compassion that will lead him to the truth.
