Profile
Agent Coffey is the supervisor of research & data analysis in the FBI's Extraterrestrial & Unidentified Phenomena Defense Department. He is a diligent worker and seems to handle the various management tasks within the data analysis department exceedingly well (even in the face of recent setbacks). His busy schedule doesn't leave much time for socializing, but he wouldn't want to anyway. While he is a rather laid-back and approachable individual once you get to know him, he tends to fumble socially in basically any conversation. This is why he acts quiet and distant, bordering cold. He honestly wishes he was better at being friendly and that trying wasn't so embarrassing, but it is what it is.
Recently, Coffey has become one of two members making up the brand-new Hands-On Alien Observations Project division. To put it plainly, an alien captured from the recent Invasion decided to cling to him and harmlessly bother him all day, leading to the decision to keep it around for research (as if anyone can get rid of it). This responsibility became Coffey's due to the circumstances. He tries his best to manage it. However, even if he's often grumpy or annoyed over dealing with the alien and its antics, the task seems to bring him out of his shell a bit. He's defensive about keeping his position in the project.
Likes:
- Coffee, especially Lattes or Mochas. He's never seen without one in hand. Yes, he knows the irony of it, don't mention it.
- Purple. His favorite color. Somehow he gets away with wearing it despite the dress code not having much leeway on colors.
- 80's songs and rock music. Songs about aliens, too. Pretty on-the-nose for him, but maybe that's why he likes it.
- Quiet. It's easy to work when nothing's bothering you. Unfortunately, that's pretty hard to come by now.
Dislikes:
- Anything annoying. Bit of a broad term and definitely subjective. But it's something he dislikes.
- Being blamed. It's not his fault that aliens suddenly have invincible ships and instantly deploy backup clones when they die now. What, is he supposed to be omnipotent? He's not even the head of his department.
- Overly social people. He's not good at reciprocating the attitude, please stop.
- Coffey has never missed a day of work. The exception being whenever he uses vacation days (typically to head North for a week in the summer and maybe again in the fall). But he tries to stay on-call even when taking these breaks.
- His sunglasses are different from the typical uniform ones because those don't come in a perscription form. His eyesight problems are also why he's never on the front lines of anything physical.
