He would show them around, and make sure they would feel at home, which in turn gives him a lot of friends in camp. His closest friends being Althea and Mark. Gift from his father, Hermes. He uses it to be able to fly and go fast, The first time he had used it he accidentally bumped his head into a tree branch.

Lock Manipulation

Hal is able to easily open and manipulate locks. As his father is the god of thieves. He doesn't do this very often, and that's due to his morality.

Camera

Given to him by his mother, Alma Davino. Nothing special about the camera, but Hal likes carrying it around and capturing natural shots of campers and scenaries.

Lore

Backstory

[EARLY LIFE]

Alma Davino is a Filipino woman who moved to the USA from the Philippines hoping to live a better life. She was a hardworker, yet it was difficult for her to earn a living when she thought living in the US would be better. Just as hope seems to have lost, she meets Hermes, she was also a clear-sighted mortal, and immediately found out how the Greek Myths were real thanks to that. Alma's character had piqued the God's interest, and the two quickly got along. Fast forward a bit, Hal was born and Alma got to name him instead of Hermes. Hermes stayed for a bit, occassionally visiting from time to time, until one day he just stopped as soon as Hal turned 2. Alma raised him alone from then on.

Hal had difficulty with school and that's due to ADHD and Dyslexia. He had a good number of friends but they never truly last long. Not only that, he and his mother were struggling financially. His mother barely able to put food on the plate. At age 10, Hal started coming across monsters. When he told his mother about it, that's when she revealed to Hal that he was a Demigod.

[AT CAMP]

He was escorted to camp, and was then claimed by Hermes a week later. He immediately felt at home. He liked trying all the activities Camp Half-blood has to offer. Hal's mother thought it was best if he stayed in camp as she doesn't have to worry for his needs. She was struggling and she was afraid she won't be able to take care of him, so the best course of action was to have Hal stay as a year-rounder.

[CAMP FIELD-TRIP]

During a winter-solstice field trip to Olympus. While the other campers were asleep, Hal stayed awake; It was because of this that Hal caught Luke stealing Zeus' bolt and Hades' helm of darkness. Hal couldn't believe what he just witnessed, he looked up to Luke, so to see him stealing from the Gods was farfetched. Luke was furious. He threatens Hal that if he tells anyone, Kronos would seek revenge on him, but Hal immediately assures him that he will keep his mouth shut. Luke then forces him to swear on the Styx not to tell a single mortal, and Luke got away with the stolen items. Hal's view on Luke changes entirely. For months, he kept this secret. That is until Percy Jackson came, retrieved the bolt and helm, and revealing Luke to be the thief. Hal still hasn't broken the promise, but he was glad Luke had been caught.

[DURING `THE LAST OLYMPIAN`]

Hal was with Travis' group during the war. He got a few minor injuries but a lot of major trauma from witnessing deaths. After the war had finally concluded, Hal meets his father face-to-face. He confesses to him that he had seen Luke stealing in Olympus 4 years ago, and expressed guilt that if he was more brave, Luke would've been caught far sooner. Hermes assures that he was young at the time, and Luke's fate was fixed in stone no matter what he would do. Hermes would then grant Hal's wish, and gave Hal and his mother an opportunity to go back to the Philippines for a vacation for a month. After this, Hal stopped being a year-rounder and started returning to his mother again after summer.

Likes

♥ [TRAVELLING] - He is the son of the God of Travels after all! Hal likes exploring a lot, he thirsts for new adventure.

♥ [PHOTOGRAPHY] - He loves taking photos! He has about two photobooks worth of pictures. A lot of them are quite messy and unorganized, but Hal cherishes each photo. The camera was a gift from his mother after all.

♥ [HALO-HALO] - Hal and his mother has an inside joke about this dessert. His mother would always make homemade halo-halo whenever they get enough money to do so.

♥ [RUNNING] - He likes running, no surprise there. He loses his stamina far slower than other campers, so he likes challenging friends to races even though most of the time they don't want to.

Dislikes

✦ [BEING FORCED] - He doesn't like being forced to do stuff, especially keeping silent like last time.

✦ [ARGUMENTS] - He avoids them at all costs. He hates heated arguments especially, and he doesn't like the screaming that comes along with it.

✦ [DARK PLACES] - A childish fear, according to some of his siblings. He doesn't like the dark cause it reminds him of his interaction with Luke back in the field trip.

Trivia

→ Voiceclaim - Gus Porter(The Owl House)

→ Unlike other campers, Hal doesn't really carry a weapon around. He runs more than he fights

→ The only time he's ever slow is in mornings. Doesn't like mornings. He always wakes up wanting to go back to sleep.

→ He's not very fluent in Tagalog, but he can understand it well.

→ He spends most of his time in the wall-climbing and Firework Beach! Wall-climbing cause he's quite fast at climbing it and the beach for relaxing or taking a jog in general.

→ He's a good singer! He can reach high notes with ease.

→ The strap of his camera is Bi-themed! It was his way of coming out.

→ He went on a quest given by Eros with Althea and Mark during TOA. They had their own story going on there.

→ His fatal flaw is curiousity. His eager to explore and learn puts him to a lot of danger.

Relations

They became friends when she was still living in the Hermes Cabin(Post-SOM). At the time when Ares claimed her, Hal and Althea continued to hang out. They became extremely close friends and would Hal listen to Althea, as well as Mark's rambles about books and whatnot. Hal tries his best to listen and engage, even though he doesn't read books himself.

They were both newbies in camp, and they bonded over that(Pre-TLT). Hal noticed how quiet and reserved he was, and grew curious about him. The two naturally developed a friendship there. Althea would then arrive to camp a year later, and the three became a trio together.

Met when Mel came to camp, unclaimed(Post-TLO). He was Mel's first friend. He tried to help Mel find her talents to figure out who her Demigod parent is. Unfortunately, when summer came to an end, he was unable to stay to help her further. The two remained friends still, and Mel was happy to see him again next Summer.

The best mom anyone could ever ask for. Hal cares for his mother a ton, and even though he was a menace to her, she was always patient with Hal in contrast with Hal's hyperactive behaviour. Hal wanted nothing but to see his mother happy, that's partially why he had asked his father to give his mother a vacation back to her homeland so she could see her family there again.

Compared to a lot of Demigods, especially Luke, who usually have a negative view of their Godly Parents, Hal doesn't bear ill-will towards Hermes. He still loves his father, and he could understand that he's really busy with his domains. Another factor as to why he doesn't hate his father is to prove Luke wrong; That Hermes is really watching, he cares and he is trying.
