The Priest's Daughter
Melissa Artemis Hunt was born May 18th to Dorian and Rebecca Hunt in a small town in West Virginia. She's the eldest of two siblings, her younger brother being Donald Hunt. Melissa, for the most part, had a normal childhood. Her father was a priest at a small chapel, while her mother worked in security. The only downside is that her mother worked late hours and her father was a zealot that would try to impose his will and faith onto his very young children. The one time that Melissa would be free from her father's zealotry is when she and her brother would be under the care of Salem, her mother's sibling. Called Sally by the children, they would inspired Melissa's love for horror, video games, and eventually her tomboy nature... much to her father's dismay.
One day, Melissa would come home to police cars surrounding her home. Upon entering, Dorion was distraught as the police chatted on and her brother was in hysterics in his room. After questioning her father and the officers, she would come to the heartbreaking revolation that her mother was dead. Slain by an unknown beast with her lucky pen by her side. The pen that she would never part with....
THe Hedge Knight.
Life after her mother's passing was hard on Melissa and her family. Her father took to drinking and slowly got more irresponsible. When Sally couldn't help, Melissa would take on the burden of taking care of her family. Her father also became more abusive and violent towards the children. One night, Melissa, Donald and Dorian were on the way home from a church event, when a drunken Dorian started to black out and ended up crashing the car in the woods. When Melissa came too, thankfullly everyone was alive but the car was totalled... and there was a strange beast looming over her unconcious father. With her mother's lucky pen in her hand, she charged the beast to save her father. Much to her surprise, the pen turned into a mighty weapon she used to vanquish the beast.
With the creature gone, Melissa took her brother and walked all the way to Sally's house and told them everything that happened that night. Distraught, Sally reveals the true nature behind Rebecca's death. As it turns out, Rebecca wasn't just a security guard. She was a guardian of the material plane. A Green Knight. She had lost her life, defending her hometown by a eldritch beast looking to become a god by devouring the souls in West Virginia. Not only that, but Rebecca and Salem come from a long line of Green Knights that defend the material plane from creatures that mean it harm.
Eventually, Dorian ends up losing custody of both Melissa and Donald due to the accident, meaning Salem was now the childrens primary guardian. The small family would pack up their stuff and move all the way to Grimmburn England. It's there that Melissa was free to be herself and start a new life. While still getting letters from her old friends back in America, she made all new friends, found a new outlook in life, and a new dream. She desires to be The Green Knight that her mother was in order to pick up The Hunt Family Legacy.
