Name: Cody Lynn Oakley
Significance: Cody is named after the city of Cody, Wyoming, where her father was born. In turn, the city itself (and to some degree, Cody as well) is named after Buffalo Bill Cody, the famous showman and frontiersman. The actual name Cody comes from the Gaelic Cuidightheach meaning 'helpful'.

Lynn is Scots Gaelic for 'water' or 'pool', but in Cody's case comes from her mother's name, Linette. 

Oakley refers to Annie Oakley, the famous Wild West sharpshooter. Annie Oakley performed for Buffalo Bill's Wild West show as an exhibition shooter and was often known as 'Little Sure Shot' for her incredible accuracy.
