Araeson

Confident • Driven • Dedicated

Overview

A Warrior and Warlock in service to Quiquetzal, the Storm Lord. Araeson is the twin brother of the village chief, Hazael, but has always been seen among his people with no small amount of disdain. He joined under his Lord in order to forge himself a new life and prove his worth to the world. He quickly rose through the ranks and currently sits at the position of top warrior among all of his peers.

Araeson is arrogant and insufferable when he first meets someone, but if someone is patient enough to stick with him despite everything - he becomes quite sweet and caring. Something about his past and his upbringing leads him to push away those he does not trust. But once that trust is earned? He would kill a man to make sure that his friends and loved ones would stay safe and happy

I could fight a hundred men if it meant being able stand at your side once more.

Quirks & habits

Araeson is arrogant and insufferable when he first meets someone, but if someone is patient enough to stick with him despite everything - he becomes quite sweet and caring. Something about his past and his upbringing leads him to push away those he does not trust. But once that trust is earned? He would kill a man to make sure that his friends and loved ones would stay safe and happy.

Communication skills

Araeson is fairly direct and sure of himself as a person. He speaks his mind regardless of what others will think about what he says. He also tends to take whatever approach is truest to his heart at the moment, and trusts his instincts. These two traits together can make him quite hard for someone who does not know him to get along with. After all, he had to learn to be confident in himself when no one else in his village, aside from his brother, believed any good of him...

Showing affection

Araeson is a very sweet and caring person to those he cares about, as well as highly protective of them. He would fight an army if it meant keeping his loved ones safe, and while he is with them he is soft and attentive to them. He loves very deeply and cherishes every person who manages to get close enough to him to make it past his initially antagonistic attitude.

Design notes

  • Cat Slit Eyes
  • Intricate Mesoamerican style Tattoos. These cover nearly all of his body.
  • Leaves some of his tattoos exposed so he can use the spells they represent - but does try to cover himself with Armor when and where it would be beneficial for him.
  • Armor has alternating directions for the engraved lines in its surface.
  • He wears a sort of tribal skirt with armor on underneath to be able to fight and move around effectively.

Childhood

  • Fraternal Twins with his brother, Hazael.
  • Outcast by his village for being the younger twin, cultral isolation made him very lonely.
  • His mother advocated for his survival and was very protective of him up until she passed away.

Araeson was the second son born to the village chief. What normally would have been held as a position of honor among his people was seen with disdain because Araeson happened to be the younger Fraternal Twin of Hazael, the eldest son. In Sun Elven culture, it is thought that the younger twin will absorb the lifeforce, power, and wellbeing of the older twin - thus it is customary to kill them at birth to allow the eldest child to thrive. However, Araeson’s mother fought to preserve both her children’s lives.

The people of his village treated Araeson much like an outsider. An unwelcome guest in their home. After all, as he got older, more and more things he seemed to “steal” from Hazael grew more obvious. Hazael was born in a woman’s body, but had a man’s spirit - so to them Araeson had stolen the body Hazael was meant to be born in. Araeson grew to be larger and stronger than Hazael physically, so obviously he took away his older brother’s prowess. And while Hazael did not believe these things of his brother, Araeson found it as though he was constantly growing in his shadow.

But things were still alright to young Araeson for many years because he still had the love of his mother and the support of his brother. Together they would be alright

However, one day when he and his mother were out gathering food for their village, they were attacked by wild Fey. Unable to defend himself at such a young age, his mother died protecting him. When the search party found him, he was still clung to his mother’s side - begging her to wake up.

For Araeson, life after this event was much harder. They refused to kill a child of his age, but his people largely blamed Araeson for the death of his mother. His father the chief went as far as to proclaim it as such. And when his father passed, and his uncle became chief, this opinion did not change for the better. Hazael never blamed Araeson for what happened, but the rift between his younger brother and the rest of the village seemed irreparable.

Proving Himself

  • Araeson trained himself to make something better of his life.
  • He found self worth in his prowess in combat and his newfound ability to protect his brother.
  • He Eventually signed on to join the Storm Lord, devoting his life to serving the Demigod of Storms.

Without the support of his mother or his village, Araeson has two options for how to move forward with his life. He could accept that what his people said were true... Or he could prove them all wrong, like his brother believed. Araeson from that point on began training to become a warrior - taking up the spear and starting to hunt and defend the village along with the other warriors of his tribe. And while they did not truly feel a bond with him, he started to become highly skilled as he progressed.

He grew stronger with each passing year - growing and progressing through his training with a determination to prove his worth to himself - even if his people would never accept him. And when his uncle denied him a position worthy of his skill among the village warriors, Araeson decided to take the matter out of his hands entirely. He packed his gear and headed out into the jungle to approach the Demigod of Storms, Quiquetzal, a respected and revered Warlord among his people.

Araeson entered the Demigod’s temple and approached the Storm Lord himself and proclaimed that if he took him as a warrior, that he would grow to be Quiquetzal’s most capable warrior. Amused by his confidence, The Demigod accepted, but stated that he had high expectations of Araeson - expectations he would not tolerate not being met. And so Araeson’s real training began - learning from his new fellows and earning power from The Storm Lord himself each time he earned his approval.

Serving Quiquetzal

  • Araeson devoted his life to The Storm Lord
  • He earned a position of Honor among his people, even if they had to accept it begrudgingly.
  • He did indeed end up becoming The Storm Lord's top warrior.

Araeson met Theran under orders to observe the strange Daemon man from his Lord. He started off by being a little insufferable, which was met in kind - however, after the two had traveled together for sometime, Araeson found himself growing ever fonder of the Dust Daemon in question.

They eventually fell in love and began to have a real relationship while trying to look for a solution to Theran’s memory problems. Once the world ending crisis in Theran’s head had been solved and everything settled, the two of them married.

When Araeson met Theran he was traveling with Satellia - through the three traveling together he grew quite protective of the Fey girl who was basically Theran’s younger, non-blood-related sister. Satellia is kind and sweet to him, even if he was a bit mean to her in the beginning of their relationship.

The two of them bonded as friends, and to this day remain very close. Even though most of their adventures have settled, they still cherish one another and their affection for Theran as well. Araeson tends to dote on her like she is a little sister of his as well.

Hazael and Araeson are two twin brothers who are very close to one another. Despite everything when his village turned against Araeson - Hazael stood by him and tried to keep him safe and out of trouble. Although the latter only occurred with limited success, the two share a special familial bond that Araeson Cherishes.

Hazael looks out for Araeson and goes out of his way to check on his brother, even if he is now the top warrior of The Storm Lord and holds a position of honor. In Hazael’s opinion, someone’s got to make sure that his brother remembers to take care of himself - even in the face of his duty.
