Tick, time incarnate
Overview
Tick is a time god, or more accurately the physical manifestation of time itself. His role is to watch over the timelines and make sure nothing is out of the ordinary and to correct any anomalies as soon as possible. His job can get boring, sitting around in an endless library at the edge of the universe.
Which is exactly why he's decided to abandon his role completely and start messing with the timelines for fun. Causing problems yourself feels more fun than fixing them apparently and with his easily-bored nature, he tends to cause a lot.

Demeanor
When holding any sort of glass or cup, Tick tends to put out his pinky finger the same way he would when drinking tea. He also floats and uses his scarf tail as a makeshift hammock to take naps in.
Tick is rarely seen by anyone in the timelines he goes into. On the rare occassions he's spotted, he either retcons it by using his time steal or toys with them for a while before doing so. To other gods and deities, he's more amiable and polite.
To the rare few he's close with (aka Sweetheart), Tick tends to be gentler and more vulnerable. He's uncapable of feeling any sort of love but that doesn't stop him from respecting or being friendly with anyone.

- The tail of his scarf is made to be THICK. Tick is often seen resting on his scarf while floating.
- Never EVER draw him without his gear monocle.
- When upset or manic, his pupils turn white/silver.
- Please don't draw him with any higlights/shine in his eye, it looks cursed.

- Tick was originally based off the gold stickman from Stick Tournament 2.
- Tick has been with me since grade 6.
- In his original lore, his dad's name was Tock.
Tick's lore used to be much simpler but also more bonkers. He was the son of a time god, the next generation to inherit his family's role. But he was pretty lazy, all he did was slack off and take naps. One day, he got bored and decided to pop into a timeline to see what's going on and got himself stuck. In a desperate attempt to find a way to go back to his realm, he joined a duelist ring (with my friend's OCs.)
A friend in grade 6 roped me into making stickman OCs because of Gildedguy. Tick was part of the first wave of stick OCs I made. After my friend moved schools, I discovered the stick community online and shelved him in favor of my newer (and better) characters. But guess what? The bastard survived! And now he's here!
Let's get back To ReWork!
- Two of Tick's past iterations have had grey eyes, but there was a version that had the same blue eyes as his scarf.
- His design mostly stayed the same through every iteration.
- Tick's original design didn't have his gear monocle, but he eventually got it from a later arc where he lost his eye.
I actually did try to bring him back on two seperate occassions but had no idea what to do with his character (until recently where I decided to take him in a more antagonistic direction). They started out as redraws/redesigns for fun until I got nostalgic and tried.
He used to be a WAY more passive character because I focused on the fact that he was lazy but also insanely powerful. He was just vibing there! Chilling! That was until...
Present Day
- I brought back Tick's gray eyes from his past designs in the form of his pupils going pure white when he's upset/manic.
- His voice claim is the Demon of Reason in one of those TED-Ed videos.
- My inspiration for his pre-redemption character is Satan from The Mysterious Stranger by Mark Twain.
I've changed a lot, discovered stuff about myself, and decided to apply some of that to Tick. I've never really written anything before, I just tend to throw things and see what sticks but I'm currently interested in trying to write his story (also trying to write a loveless character, shoutout to my arospec homies.)
In this version of his character, he's a lot more antagonistic and very apathetic (I took his laziness and laid-back personality in a more twisted direction). He's the main reason for why my ocs suffer. The reason? He's bored and just wants to watch things and see what happens. His story will still follow what happened in his old lore, but in a more remixed way. And YES, he WILL get a redemption arc!!!

Weaknesses
- Playing with time is extemely risky, if Tick makes one wrong move it backfires greatly on him.
- He has to make every move count, it has to be quick and precise.
Skills & abilities
Time Steal
Tick is capable of stealing certain events in time, causing a disconnect in the present. You could try and punch him but when uses his time steal, you'd blink and suddenly your fist would be nowhere near him. As a last resort, he could cause a "retcon" and erase all traces of the fight happening in the first place.
Time Nausea
As a side effect, any mortal being in Tick's physical presence experiences nausea and extreme bouts of deja vu. Those with the ability to see the future are inflicted earlier than the moment they're actually supposed to, as a result of them having to process what's even happening in the first place.
Time Debt
Used in conjuction with time steal, Tick is able to "give back" the parts of time he stole and rearrange it in order to form a different outcome. He can't control the new outcome so he has to rearrange the stolen events carefully to gain an advantage.
Rifthopper
With his clock hands, Tick is able to make rifts and tears in the space-time continuum to other timelines. This is his main form of travel.
Just as Tick is time incarnate, Sweetie is the personification of love itself. Due to this, Tick sees her as an equal and a great companion.
