It's been known to the family's only child that he has suddenly gotten easily sick by the pollution and heavy sunlight engulfing the local city they lived in. The only time he doesn't seem to feel ill is whenever he's in the shade and the enviroment feels humid, whether it be the bathroom air or the garden's moist soil. Even with all, it's still hard for the family to contain their horror when they were told by private mycologist experts of his real condition, how his DNA had been invaded by external force; a toxin gas from mushrooms, turning him into a half-fungus human. His family theorize that it began the time they all went on a sumptuous trip to a mushroom-dominated forest, believing that it was a Fae's doing.

Unlike his family however, he seems unphased and even relieved by the new revelation; perhaps both from not caring about superstitions and the curiousity of finding new discoveries from his newfound body. So after being given a special clothing, cap, and backpack with built-in spores and cells to keep him alive, he requested that they have the cute mushroom look he sees on TV cartoons; this way, nobody would notice the fungi pranks he's going to unleash until it's too late.
