"When you smile and close your eyes, the pretty lies seem true"
A fluffy tortoiseshell and white tom with green eyes.
Sagepaw is one of BlizzardClan's apprentices, and by far the most withdrawn of the current batch. He's hesitant to do any sort of group activity outside of his Clan duties and training with his mentor, Applepatch. Sagepaw used to have a close knight set of cats he relied upon in his Clan, the trio of Thunderscar, his father, Applepatch, his mentor and Razorwave, his childhood friend. When Razorwave left, however...Sagepaw was never quite the same.
Young Sagepaw is often found around camp keeping to himself. He does his duty, he learns as best he can, but his free time is best spent ruminating on his own thoughts and working on his art, littering the less visited corners of the camp with snow sculptures and little crushed fruit paintings.

Cruel streak
Sagepaw has always been a little on the shy side. Even from birth, Sagekit preferred to tuck himself in at Thunderscar's belly than try and explore the nest and wider world around him, though most just viewed him as a late bloomer. Sagekit was starting to come into his own and make friends when Iciclepaw, a cat he looked up to for her outgoing nature and kindness, disappeared. Just as he was starting to come out of his shell, Sagekit retreated right back in out of fear and shock, and hasn't been one to be outspoken ever since. Though BlizzardClan currently favours cats who are strong and loud, Sagepaw just can't bring himself to be something he's not, though he tries very hard. Sagepaw, even though he's shy, isn't necessarily a kind soul however. Though he isn't cruel, Sagepaw has an angry streak and he finds it difficult to understand how cats can like things he doesn't like, and has picked up some poor language and behaviour in his attempt to emulate the older cats to try and fit in with the rest of the Clan. He agrees with Thunderscar in his dislike for the current regime, though still tries to fit in with the others. He's scared of being singled out.
When he's alone with his papa Thunderscar though is when he truly begins to shine. Sagepaw has a passion for all things creative, and talks at length about the art he can make and the pictures he wants to be able to render when he gets better. A consummate artist, Sagepaw spends most of his free time indulging in quiet time with his snow sculptures and chalk drawings. Unfortunately, he doesn't try to keep any of his art, and is far too shy and reserved to share it with the rest of the Clan, especially Dovemoon and his ilk. They make him far too nervous. Sagepaw isn't very good at hunting- animals are unpredictable and he finds the timing hard to get down. Fighting, however? With Applepatch's guidance, he's really starting to get the hang of it. His analytical eye and keen mind for pattern recognition make it so he's often getting the hang of battle moves in only a pawful of tries. Despite his skill, though, he doesn't get much enjoyment out of it, and doesn't understand why he can't just stay home and make snowcats..
Physical Description
Sagepaw is a tortoiseshell cat with elements of orange, black and white over his pelt.
In his young age he hasn't accumulated any scars yet to mottle his pelt, and keeps himself relatively well groomed at all times, especially the mop of black fur that hangs down over his eye- he can often be found gently running his claws through it to keep it straight and tidy. Sagepaw has deep green eyes and black and white freckle-like marks over his muzzle.

Backstory
[Sagekit] • [Sagepaw]
Early Life
When Sagekit was born, he was an only child. His whole world consisted of him, his papa Thunderscar and mama Asterlight. This world was small, but not restrictive. It was cozy, treated with milkscent and gentle, hushed whispers- the Nursery den was quiet, and quiet was just how he liked it. Why would anybody bother with anything else? Over time he grew to learn of the outside world from his parents, but that world seemed so cold, so barren. A world of war and leaders and Courts and mountains...It all sounded so big, so vast. Sagekit, even three moons in, was too frightened to explore any of it. So instead, he'd imagine what it looked like. One day, Asterlight brought home a pile of snow for Sagekit to play with, to try and entice him out of the Nursery. With the foreign, cold substance, Sagekit realized that he could mould it into shapes. His first sculpture was...less than grand to say the least- little more than a lump that might have been in the shape of a cat? But it put a determination in Sagekit he hadn't felt before.
As he slowly began to venture out of the nursery, perfecting his sculptures in quiet corners of the camp when he'd been brought snow from outside, Sagekit gradually began to meet and befriend Iciclepaw. Iciclepaw was Dovemoon's granddaughter, but didn't seem to care much for the title, which was just fine by Sagekit. He was much more interested in her. Iciclepaw told him all about the mountain outside of the Camp. Birds and rivers and trees and endless stretches of land as far as the eye could see. The new information lit a fire under Sagekit like he wouldn't believe- he created more sculptures and drawings then than he ever had or would since. Iciclepaw was a brave and strong apprentice, one that Sagekit admired greatly. Maybe being a Warrior wouldn't be so bad if he could be like Iciclepaw! If Iciclepaw could be at his side...Like an older sister! It wasn't long until Iciclepaw disappeared. Some part of him had felt it, deep in his bones, Iciclepaw's deep dissatisfaction. Her fear. Her unhappiness. Despite this, he couldn't understand why she'd leave. Wasn't the mountain beautiful? Weren't they going to be Warriors together? Something must have happened. She wouldn't leave without saying goodbye! ...Right?
The endless possibilities shook Sagekit to his core. He didn't leave the den after that until his apprenticeship ceremony.Adolescence
Sagepaw had never been much interested in the other kittens in the nursery, and he wasn't going to start now that they were apprentices. He had nothing necessarily against them, he just...Didn't care. Especially now that Iciclepaw was gone, why invest in another relationship with kits his age? They were just going to leave again. So Sagepaw retreated inwards to his papa, to his art. It didn't take long for him to be gentle coaxed back out again, though, if only for one cat- Applepatch. Despite being a withdrawn little 'paw, Applepatch had always been a positive influence in his life. He often visited the nursery to bring food and news, and was one of few that Sagepaw had been convinced to show his art to.
As time grew on, Sagepaw was growing into a proper apprentice. Though he was slower at learning to hunt, he was beginning to have fun hunting and fighting alongside his mentor, and the two became much closer- so when Coldwind's exile came along, Sagepaw was thankful that he'd gotten the influence of his mentor and parents.
It was here he began to listen to the Clan more. Everyone was calling Coldwind awful things, things she rightfully deserved mind you. This taught him the nasty habit of insults, even in situations that didn't call for it. If someone you didn't care for did something bad- you call them bad names, right?
Unfortunately, his skittish nature was only to get worse. Now he understood why Iciclepaw left, if she had, that is. Mt. Solstice was dangerous. An avalanche tore through the mountain, and took several lives with it, including that of his mother, Asterlight. For days afterwards, Sagepaw was inconsolable. Once again, one of the few cats he'd allowed himself to care about had been taken from him- only this time he knew he'd never see her again. They couldn't even bring back a body. Applepatch told him that he'd tried his best, but Sagepaw let his temper and cold tongue get the better of him.
"I bet you didn't even try!" Sagepaw yelled, distraught and in shock. "I bet you wanted her dead 'cuz you're jealous she was my parent and you're not!"
The words made little sense, merely something to shout to try and quell the anger and sorrow building up inside of him. Untempered rage funnelled in the only direction he had. It was all building up, it was too much. Though he hadn't told anyone about it, on his first day as an apprentice he'd seen Iciclepaw there- she had abandoned them. He couldn't blame her, but she hadn't even said goodbye. Though he hadn't told anyone about it, Slushpaw had destroyed some of his snow sculptures. Not intentionally, she was just rushing through and didn't think to look, but she hadn't even said sorry. Though he hadn't told anyone about it, Dovemoon's laws were scaring him, and he hated the look in papa Thunderscar's eye whenever he looked at Dovemoon. Thunderscar didn't mean to frighten him, he knew that, but nobody seemed to notice.
Though he hadn't told anyone about it, it was all beginning to bottle up, and only a sliver of it had come out when Asterlight died- burying his nose in Applepatch's shoulder and crying the night away.
Sagepaw still sits with his fury bubbling just beneath the surface- too shy and skittish to address it, too frightened of unleashing it again and saying something he'll regret.

STANDING
BlizzardClan
Sagepaw is very standoffish towards his Clan, but only to the point of ambivalence. He knows that BlizzardClan is full of plenty of nice cats who would likely welcome him if he reached out but...
"They probably wouldn't like me if they got to know me anyway..."
Thunderscar
Sagepaw's darling father. Sagepaw adores his dad, and when he's not sulking on his own he can be found chatting to his papa about his art
"I know you miss mom as much as I do...But we still have each other, right?"
Razorwave
She got out while she still could, Sagepaw understands. He wouldn't want her to be somewhere that made her unhappy. And yet...
"You didn't even say goodbye! What kind of a friend does that?! I thought you were dead for moons!"

APPEARANCE
[A small, short-furred blue tabby with green eyes.]
Riverpaw was a small tabby molly with large, pointed ears and a triangular face. He had a tear in one ear, but no other notable scars. Riverpaw's fur was short and thick, with dark, swirling stripes. He had bright green eyes and an often unblinking stare. He usually had a haunted expression or a glower on his face.
Curse:
- Medium; haunted by ghosts and can't block it out or turn it off.
- Ghosts seem to get "stuck" or tethered to him until he helps them pass on by fulfilling their final wish.
PERSONALITY
+ Caring, Dutiful, Quick-witted
- Secretive, Standoffish, Grumpy
Riverpaw was a quiet, observant molly. He rarely spoke, and when he did it was usually a defensive retort or an unsettling statement. He was mistrustful of others due to bullying at the paws of older apprentices and spent much of his time staring into empty space. He was jumpy and paranoid and tended to speak about things he shouldn't have known, such as events that happened before he was born.
Aside from this, Riverpaw was reluctant to do apprentice duties and grumbled about them when ordered. They spent most of their time alone.
BACKGROUND
Riverkit was born to a warrior mother. His father was unknown, but speculated by others to have been a passing loner. They were a quiet, but cheerful, kit; much of their time was spent hiding behind their mother, though they weren't unsociable by any means. Riverkit's mother died of greencough shortly before they were apprenticed, leaving them to be raised by the other queens for the remainder of their time in the nursery. They were apprenticed a little early in hopes of taking their mind off their mother's passing.
After his mother's death, Riverpaw changed. Though he had always been quiet, he became jumpy and paranoid, staring at nothing, isolating himself, and snapping at any that got too close. His self isolation worsened when other apprentices took to calling him "Ghost," thanks to his unsettling stare and silent demeanor.
He, along with several other apprentices, was sent on a Starclan-ordained journey by Silkstar and never returned.
