Tiny but deadly little fighters. There are a ton of them all over the hive but they are generally just perceived as cute but creepy little creatures that either just vibe or help out others. The fact that they are actually really dangerous is a well kept secret as these guys only get unleashed when a situation is really bad - they take no prisoners and leave not even bones behind and that outcome is not always desirable. While the individuals have a sense of self they are also aware of the whole group which makes communication and organization effortless and fast. They are unable to speak and can only produce some clicks and screeches. They do understand what others say tho. As most people just see them as bigger, friendly, mildly intelligent spider things no one pays a lot of attention to them. Thanks to that they know all the secrets within the hive - your hopes and dreams as well as your darkest fears. Since they can't talk that knowledge stays in their hivemind.

A small group joined the local troublemakers in jump scaring travelers (they got bribed with good food). They won't actually hurt anyone with that but it is a good way to scout out how the travelers react and if they might become a threat.

They are very agile and fast, able to easily move around with their scythe-like limbs. The lowest pair of limbs is more like legs and have an extra joint for mobility. Some of them have retractable wings that are used for either gliding or for short bursts of actual flying. The hook/stinger on their tail is great for grabbing onto things. They come in a ton of different colors that are usually rather bright.

Even the queen is unsure if they are actually bee related but you do not turn down the deadly swarm.
